I was going to add a connector through the battery access panel in front side of RH rear seat to charge the battery. I've done this on my 1991 750i. But on my latest 1989 750iL, there is already some small type of BMW original two-pin connector, just next the the battery disconnetor behind the plastic covers
I've spent hours going through the ETM and Bently, can't find what is. I'd realy like to put the seats back in now that I've fixed blown fuses and have all the power seats and head rest working.
Does anyone know what connector is for? I can't see any voltage on it.
That is a Highline with 2 batteries, 1 under rear seat and one in the trunk. I assume the online wiring diagrams do not have the wiring for the Highline as well as the Bentley manual, as the Highline was never sold in the U.S.
Make a picture of that connector, maybe our electric experts can help.
The 2nd battery you have to charge separately.
The battery is not charged with the large battery via the B+ terminal under hood , it is switched off by an interface relay behind the cover right hand side in trunk and is connected together only when ignition (15).

The harness for security and keyless entry modules makes a connection in the battery area on E34s, I suspect this may be what you are looking at.
If there is no voltage it is obviously not connected to your battery. A dedicated connection directly to the battery will serve you best.
If you can leave two black stripes from the exit of one corner to the braking zone of the next, you have enough horsepower. - Mark Donohue
Thanx Shogun. Yes I know I have a separating relay in the trunk next to battery#2 and the second alternator under the AC compressor with it's own belt.
Here is the picture of the mysterious connector under RH rear seat access cover:

Not what I was thinking of

First time I see that. Will double check tomorrow on my Highline. Maybe I have not seen it or checked on my car. Where do these wires go inside under the rear seat passenger side?

On the battery side of the access panel, there is a black connector connecting the connector in the picture you've seen (maybe X143?). Two wires, white/brown & black/brown. They run about 10cm, the group together (taped not connected) with the two RH passenger seatbelt electric signal wires. Then it dissapears downwards towards wirelooms on the floor.

I was thinking that maybe this is BMWs own designed connection for diagnosis of GM and other stuff under the LH rear seat.
More pictures of backside of this mysterious connector. Photo taken from the right side of the battery looking forward towards legroom wall. I also correct myself, the wires go down towards the floor and rear of the battery together with other wire looms. It has nothing to do with seatbelt connector as I mentioned before.
Has anyone seen this before? http://s107.photobucket.com/user/fri...tml?sort=3&o=1
