Why do manufactures make pink, yellow, blue, cool white etc. but no warm white (4300k) angel eye bulbs? I have literally looked everywhere and nobody makes them. Im temped to buy a cheap set, purchase warm white cree led chips and soldering them in to replace the cool white led. Sometimes the cool white look almost blue, giving a rice look to the otherwise classy e39.
EDIT (Update)------
So i went ahead and sourced some 5000k Cree XM-L2 and went ahead and soldered them on. Heres the list of things i used
2x ($10) http://www.illumn.com/cree-xm-l2-16m...-3c-5000k.html
1x ($8) http://www.amazon.com/Arctic-Alumina...c+silver+epoxy
2x ($27) http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
1x ($15) Burnt out Angel eye Bulbs http://www.ebay.com/itm/WHITE-BMW-E3...9b5740&vxp=mtr
Total cost------$60 without all the other tools i used.
Here's a pic of the "10 watt" led angel eyes in the day, almost useless
They only draw about .4 Amps, to calulate wattage (.4 times 12.4 volts =~ 5 watts) which is false advertising if you ask me...
Here's a comparison the of the LED drivers, an obvious difference in quality.
Pics of the constant current devices used for both LED drivers, top is the one i ordered on amazon, bottom is el cheapo
Used a fair amount of thermal epoxy to both glue and transfer heat away from the LED, also used the epoxy to glue the two heatsinks together to improve heat transfer even more
Heres what a rough final product looks like, i still need to weather proof the Constant current device, and shrink wrap the ugly pink wire to make it look OEM
Heres the Led being power at the same .4 amps as the china angel eyes
This is the LED being driven at 1 amp (12.4 watts)
Comparison between Umnitza Orion V2.5 6000k angel eyes, and the Cree XM-L2 5000k angel eye. Big difference in color, almost the same output for half the price
Also, keep in mind, at 1 Amp these Cree XM-L2's are being pushed only at 1/3 of their maximum current which also means 1/3 of their brightness. In order to drive thse LED's at 3 amps, you will need substantially more heat sink, maybe even a fan too. Cree recommends about 2 square inches of heat sink for every watt you run the LED at. The heat sinks i am using is roughly 14-18 square inches, and with the engine heat, I honestly am predicting this LED to consume itself in under 4 years. For the level of brightness offered, and the unique color output nobody else has, i will glady fork over another $40 in a few years for some new ones.

Because warm white looks dirty....in my humble opinion.
5k for any bulb is good for me, more "white" without any of the blue tint.
I have no idea on angel eye options though, I don't have them on any of our cars.

Thats the thing. There no such thing as a pure white led its either a hint of yellow or a hint of blue.
Can you tell if yours are LED or are they CCFL?
I will check now

They are led
Pics?
In about 15 mins I can put up some pics. I have two different examples (dif cars).

First pic is stock ( have to change that!)
Second pic is the led setup
Those are 6000k-7000k. Definite hints of blue but thanks for the pics. OEM is halogen about 3500k, i want in between the two

I have seen the blue-ish ones, and these are not them. These have a more pure white. Now I need to find another set to replace my yellows.
It's always hard to really tell in pics. I can see a wee tint of blue in the pics, but it's probably not there in person.
And even in the pics they don't look to be quite 6k-7k for sure...but that's with my own eyes and I'm by no means a lighting expert.
For me, if the seller or package doesn't specifically say 5k then I just don't buy them (any kind of bulb).
I just wish there was a sticker or company label on them, because now that I have seen the difference side by side, I want to get rid of the yellow bad!
Kevin: If you find the 5k setup, please let me know. I don't want to drive around with this goofy yellow any longer than I have to.
Please find me an led angel eye that is advertised at 5k. Plain and simple theres no such thing

The kelvin rating you mention are generally only in reference to HID bulbs. No reputable company sells AE bulbs in kelvin scale. They are just calling them 5k because they are white.
I can't install those anyway because I have the '03 'no-bake' headlights
How about this color (stock HID on for color temp comparison)?
User Cal45lover (John) has some that I picked up from him. Match my HIDs <shrug>. Been running them for 9 months? and no problems? You won't find the LEDs with a Kelvin rating - see RVAE's post above.
I still gotta go grab my halogen bulb holders - JOHN if you're reading this...
The kelvin scale is just a scale used to rate different wavelengths of sun light. Yes it became popular when xenon lights became common place, but the scale was around much longer than that. If you buy and led from any reputable vendor they give you a Kelvin temp if white, or a wavelength if a color, voltage, current, lumen rating etc. if you buy an led and its described as "bright" and "pure white" you should reevaluate where you are purchase your lighting products. Just my two cents.
Heres those moriomoto angel eyes you linked. If those dont have a blue hue to it then im blind.. [img]http://oi48.tinypic.com/rbfi4j.jpg[img]

Yeah those do have a blue tint. Colorwise mine look like the ones that Sleuth has.
2 years ago, I got 10W LEDs for $37 from this guy. They still work fine.
