Man, was hoping this car would be complete. I still dream about an LS e-39 after all these years.
Judging by the mindboggling attention to detail and protracted build, I'm thinking that Schizo is probably more in it for the process than the end result, and that this thread will be like one of those .gifs with the animated wave that never breaks.
It's amazing to look at, but we're all gonna have build-thread blue balls if we don't already.
Schitzo, did the piston slap go away after the engine warmed up?
The '33 is about 1/2 done. I sent you a few pics this morning.

As the esteemed internet sensation would say, just "Send it".
Seriously love this thread and can’t wait for some more updates. Eventually will drop an LS or S62 into my Touring.... would love to hear how you like the car after she’s done and has some miles on her too!

A lot has transpired since I last posted but I just haven't had time to update the thread. I'll do so soon but here are a few pics of the car as it sits. I have put about 500 miles on it.

Thanks for the mini update, I was starting to wonder what happened to you.
What are you using for an intake manifold? Looks pretty nice.
I hope to have my '33 build thread updated soon. Almost ready to start it and drive it around the hood.

Stock and unassuming as always. Love it! Can't wait for your next update.
Schitzo, I still have 6 boxes of parts to unpack. I try to work on it 20-25hr a week.
Great to see it's on the road.
Is that the standard BMW dbw throttle pedal?
Yes it is. I did have to adjust the pedal so that the voltage at 0% was within what the GM ECU expects. This is discussed on post #12 in the thread linked below.

Thanks for the link, saves me messing about with custom mounts.
It's always time consuming getting pedal positioning right during a swap.
A little sound sample.

One of the best exhausts I've heard in a long time.
Take it to the drags after you get a few more miles on it, low 11's??
Thanks. I absolutely like the way the exhaust sounds. Its loud when you get on it with the muffler valves open but does not drone. It is nicely quiet with the valves closed.
11s is ambitious especially if it is me behind the wheel.
Read about your transmission mishap...hopefully it isn't difficult to fix.

I need to update my '33 build post over on the E39 forum.
Tranny impeller parts will be here tomorrow, only $50. Pulling the tranny was the hardest part of the job.
That sounds great. What do you have for exhaust from the headers back? I gave up looking at post #275.

Speaking of the '33, I read you had to use a 10K pull up resistor to get your tach to work. I need to do that same. How did you come up with that ohm value?
Dual 3 inch with Magnaflow Cats, X-pipe just ahead of the diff, and Corvette C7 mufflers with valves to switch between loud and quiet mode.

My goodness Robert. I hope you’re playing for the good guys, I’d hate to have you on the bad guys side. This build is insane.

Love the sound, sound like a lion to me.
Robert, where are you? You’ve been MIA for a while.
Still here; mostly lurking. Still driving this thing...it has been my primary daily except when there is salt on the roads. It almost has 10K miles now. How is the 33?
I have been slowly working on a different project

yo sick engine your working on, also what workbench/tool chest is that? Do you have a thread on the new project?
I’m racking my brain trying to figure out what that V12 and transaxle came out of. And what are you going to put it in?
The ‘33 is slowly progressing, keep making changes to it. It’s mostly still in gel coat and some primer. Still have body work to finish before paint.
I dressed up the LS3 a bit with coil covers and swapped the OE fuel rail for Holley Sniper rails. Hope to have it done enough to get it registered this summer. Swapped the low back seats for a set of high back adjustable Miata seats.
Bought a benchtop metal lathe and milling machine too.
