I was hoping to see some fancy transmission option, but hey, this will do These are the same 8.5:1 compression pistons right? e85 fuel as well? Can't wait to see what this does with a proper manifold. mmmm long runners.
Curious to see what you end up doing with the fuel tank (vent).
Yeah, its a brace for the column
Nice track driving sir. Look forward to updates!

Your "3rd gear fun in mexico" video is probably my favorite on youtube, keep up the good work, you should go for round two when this is done!
P.S. Love how im not the only one repping the aim mxl display and evo 4 logger
Dream big, work hard, and let what you love, be what you do.

Thanks! I'll see if I can get some video of the new setup, but it's not going to be quite as easy to street drive with the downpipe out the hood
And nice on the AIM. Mine is a Pista so logging is done internally. The warning lights and conditional warnings have saved me SO many times. I.e. warning light comes off if AFR > 12.0 and Boost > 15 psi, etc. I love that thing.

Some more updates:
Took my block and crank to the car wash to make sure there were absolutely zero shavings or debris anywhere from the machine shop. They VAT the parts usually anyway, but recommend an additional cleaning just to be extra safe so freshly soaped and pressure washed from a self wash. I also painted the block black after removing the surface rust.
Crank installed and torqued. Smooth like usual.
Pistons and connecting rods back in and torqued
Also swapped a USA oil pump gear onto the euro S50B30 oil pump since the S50B30 gear is slightly larger, and then had the gear welded on to ensure I don't have any oil pressure mishaps
To be continued! I'm hoping to have most of the long block finished by the weekend with some turbo goodies on. My photographer buddy is coming up from Houston for the F1 race at COTA this weekend, so hopefully I can get him to swing by and take some cool pictures of the car and engine.

can't wait to see the finished product
Somebody in Croatia told me that your car is on sale on the forums... did he mixed up something or did you've changed your mind?
Very nice Mike, keep em coming!
Switching to obd2 block I see? For the ATI balancer?
I've been using an M52 block since 2009! I have an S50 crank in it though. I will be using a damper with a trigger wheel, but still using an OBD2 harness.
I want to go S52 crank, but that means new pistons, etc. and it's totally ready to go right now. I don't want a damper alone to dictate several thousand dollars in upgrades

Tons of updates guys! My parts business is mostly in full swing. I am still waiting on my developers for my website to be finished, but I have a ton of brands available right now. I am still working on being a forum supporting vendor. (someone please email me back!)

/shameless plug for Van's Parts.
Here are some progress pictures! I am back from vacation and things are moving along quick this week!
While on vacation I went to a drift event at MMP (Miller Motorsports Park) and drifted my buddy Nate's turbo Miata. What a blast! I was really cramped in the car, with my helmet constantly hitting the main hoop, and my left elbow constantly hitting the door bar, but it was a blast!
Back to the Gorilla!
I hope to have the engine assembled and the turbo kit on Monday:
Picture of the block/pistons from 2009 (M52 block/head, S50 crank/cams):
Honed once or twice now. Another time and it will get 11+ CR pistons
Cleaned up the shop at home a bit (the bench anyway) - we can fit TWO cylinder heads on the bench now, and actually still see the bench!
Swapping out stock 2 piece BMW valves for Supertech one piece valves (black nitrided intake, inconel exhaust, single groove keepers on both.)
Supertech 84lb dual valve springs and Ti retainers looking great and taking the abuse like a champ:
Marking the windage tray for modification for the S50B30 euro dual oil pump pickup/pan setup and dual oil tube brackets:
210mm 4 clutch flat plate diff rebuild pics:
Thanks for looking!
More updates tomorrow!

I have not seen anyone else use the windage tray with the s54 oil pan/pump before. I had thought about it but came to the conclusion that of the s54 doesn't use one then it's not required. The pan itself is the windage tray.

210mm is the only way to go in terms of high power in these cars? High power/high abuse(drifting).
Not worth trying to use a quick change rear or some other domestic diff such as 9" with IRS?
I think the 210 is beefier than a 9 inch.
