Did you end up going with the 10 or 11 psi spring? Jordan recommended I junk the synapse synchronic BOV since they leak.

I went with the unpainted 10psi and it works perfect. my warm idle vacuum is 19inhg, my guess is yours might be a bit higher if you're still running 328 cams. Did you ever replace your FPR?

I'm running s52 cams and currently see 19 lbs at idle so the 10psi spring should work great. I haven't replaced the FPR yet as well as the clutch and other things haha. Currently saving up for a house so car mods will have to wait for awhile.

Correct...but building a car in a storage unit is getting old quick!

AFPR installed and adjusted (44PSI with vacuum connected) and I'm now bouncing between 10.5-10.8 on full boost instead of maxing gauge at 10.5 the entire time.

This has inspired me. Where are you in you budget? Is there an update?

I picked up my 97 m3 a few weeks back.

After purchasing the car, I've put around $4500, and too many hours, into this project. I'm working on scheduling tuning for this Thurs or Fri, I'll update with final results once I have them.

Congrats man! Sounds like you really came close to the original budget, that nearly never happens in my experience. And after 2 years it must be nice being this close to completion.

Do you mind if I read through this again and come up with some questions? I am new to Bimmers, but not wrenching. Just would like to know what I am getting myself into and have a solid plan. Just bought the m3 on a whim when my wrx blew up and didn't like the 540i I bought.

    Thanks!

Was able to get the car tuned today. Jordan did a great job, he found quite a bit of power for me. I've got two boost settings, 8PSI and 15PSI; they peak at 10PSI and 17.5PSI respectively.

The base run was done on low boost and resulted in 406HP. Jordan was able to squeeze another 30-40HP out, then went straight to the high boost mode, with the end result of 516HP with boost peaking at 17.5PSI.

My AFR's are now in the low 11's under full boost and idle is very smooth. Overall, the car is very drivable and feels like a monster when you get into it. Now I just need to find some springs and struts and deep-six those coil overs, those things are for the birds.

I'm not knowledgeable on that dyno, but seems like that 35r seems to be coming in pretty late. I'm used to seeing 35r's hit peak TQ around 4k. Do you have a controller of some sort ? Or am I reading into your graph wrong ? Maybe on the street it feels much more spunky ? End result looks GREAT ! 500+ @ 17#'s is a fun buggy.

I hit full boost around 3500-3750, but I am still dialing in my boost controller. Closed loop is a bit tricky to set up at first, but so nice once you've got it. Thanks for the comments.

Yeah, that makes more sense. Have fun with it. I think for a street car, that's not roll racing everyday and drag racing or chasing some type of number, a 35r M3 can't be beat in the fun category !

Awesome numbers. How did you get Jordan to do one on one tuning? I need to change a few things on my setup, but I'd like to do this to ensure I'm getting the most out of my car. PM if u need to. Thanks.

I'm going to guess the dyno wasn't calibrated correctly to read RPM (too many people with DD don't get that part right)... Unless of course they really didn't pull past 6500 for some reason.

What you get with the controller on the street and what you get on a load based dyno may vary. If you were at 15 psi with the GT3582R at 3500-3750 rpm on the dyno, you would be making more than 300lbs rwtq at 4000 rpm -- should be more like 400+ lbs rwtq.

The way the torque curve ramps up makes it look like your boost is coming in very slowly. Like it is not all there until 5000 rpm. The only way most people get such a late torque peak on an S52 with a responsive turbo like a GT35R is with lots of boost creep that keeps adding boost to offset the otherwise declining VE. If you were getting peak boost by 3500-3750 and maintaining the boost, your curve would be much different.

He's a very busy guy, as are all decent tuners. I just contacted him, gave him time to reply, and proposed dates I was available to travel to NY. He offered remote tuning, but since I'm not too far from NY, I'd rather have him in the car.

I read about people becoming frustrated with tuners all the time, through my various project cars (E36, 930, and TDI), I've dealt with three separate tuners. All three would sometimes take 1-2 weeks to reply to emails. I would simply send a pleasant reminder after a few days and restate my questions. With all three, once we scheduled a tuning session, their work and customer service was phenomenal.

I'm not making excuses, but I understand what these guys are dealing with. All three of the tuners I used are small, one-man businesses and in high demand. the sheer volume of email they have to sort through is mind numbing, not to mention 50% of it is from dreamers with no real plans to make their project a reality. My RK tune was purchased second hand, and Jordan still provided support. Not free support, but I certainly wouldn't expect that. I've got nothing bad to say about Jordan and RK-Tunes, he's a busy guy, who was able to turn my car into a smooth-running beast. I don't have the knowledge or skill to tune my own car, so I rely on the expertise of others. Jordan charges a very reasonable fee for his services, but has a lot of customers.

Point taken, I certainly have some work to do fine tuning my EBC. My EBC boost tap is currently on the cold side of the intercooler, I plan to move it to the elbow on the turbo.

Car is running great these days. Now I'm getting a bit nit picky and really trying to dial in my closed loop boost control. I've got the PID locked in pretty well and it's quite responsive, but I need to clean up the MAP signal. I've read about the Subaru guys using a pill in the vacuum line to restrict the signal and provide a less "peaky" reference, so I'll try that. upon reviewing my data logs, my 516 HP run averaged 15psi and was swinging from 13-17. I think I can tighten that swing down, then target 17.5 and squeeze a bit more out of the old girl.

The other piece I need to address is replacing those godforsaken ISC coilovers with some stock springs and struts. If anyone has a stock suspension you want out of your garage, let me know.

Nice to hear the car is running good!

Why don't you like about the ISC coilovers? Just to firm?

I would think the stock suspension would be way to soft and a hand full at that power level.

Car rides like a turd. It's way to firm, bounces over uneven spots during braking, and tires lose contact with the road. I just want springs and struts

    I recommend

I live in NYC and harsh suspension was one if my main concerns with the horrible roads we have here. I promise you will NOT be upset by these. They also have a 3 year warranty and all the reps I've spoken to were really cool and knowledgeable people.
They use to work for KW, split off and started their own company.

Interesting just read some reviews on the solowerk s1 coilovers and very good feedback. One person had them for 3 years and no issues. I have h&r sports with konis and hate how it crashes over bumps just not enough travel. Might be getting a set of these

Someone say Subaru? It's my time to shine! With the Subaru closed loop system the restrictor pill causes boost to build up more before it hits the wastegate so its almost like a mini boost controller. Makes it much more stable and takes a significant load off the WG.

Here is the OEM Part Number if you want to fab it to work with your set up 22326AA260. It's a 0.8mm Restrictor Pill. We have to use a T splitter to get it to work.

Let me know if you have any questions on it.
