    1994 BMW 740iL no spark

    Hi Guys,

could you give me some advice on the following?

    engine wont turn over
after finding out no power to the fuel pump,
checked tested fuel pump, relay, and fuse.
    all tested fine with multimeter.
    New plugs also
changed Cam & Crank shaft sensor.

car was running fine until yesterday.

car had same symptoms 2 months ago.
spent $1200 for the above parts & repair.

so no spark to the engine & no power to the fuel pump.

any advise would be greatly appreciated...

    Thanks in advance

also checked all fuses & relays under hood & rear seat.
    they checked out fine.

You said it won't turn over. If it is not turning over, there will be no spark and no power to fuel pump. Did you mean it will crank (turn over) but will not start?

Have you check to see that it does not have spark? The easiest way is to spray in some starter fluid and see if it pops or fires. If it fires with starter fluid then look to the fuel pump. If you have confirmed there is no spark, and you have replaced the crank position sensor, then you may need to look to the DME

had similar problem some months ago. if you are sure the relay is good and the fuel pump works (connect directly to battery) then something with the wiring. i connected my fuel pump to a 12v source under the back seat and put the fuse and relay there. it works

    Hi Guys,

just wanted to let you all know.
I was able to fix problem.

my mistake was ASSUMING the 1 month old fuel pump wasn't the problem
after replacing it with the old fuel pump the car started fine.
thanks for all your advise guys...
