Recently finished the brake overhaul:
- All stock M3 calipers cleaned, painted (black), and rebuilt with fresh rubber boots/O-rings
- ECS Tuning Bronze caliper guide pin bushings front and rear
- Rotors replaced with Performance Friction V3 2-piece floating in front, and Stoptech slotted in the rear
- TMS/Stoptech steel brake lines
- Pads replaced with Performance Friction Z-Rated
- Pruned the top third or so of my front brake dust shields off while I had the rotors off
- Flushed with Castrol SRF
Here's some pics. The closeup is of the inside of one of the PFC V3 rotors showing their nifty bolt-less retaining mechanism.

Nice upgrade! No grommets on the brake lines?

Grommets are on there, they just slide freely. They're up against the fittings towards the top of that image.
After installing I just slid it into the holder in my ground control struts and it slid to the right point on the hose.
Weird... I'm doing nearly the same exact brake upgrade. Haha. Love the rotors.
Here's what I did to my car this week (or rather, last week) had to toss my bucket o' bolts around a bit yesterday, great shot by my buddy Jason Wedehase

Car is largely stock still, I really wanted to get one more track day in before I start the suspension and brake upgrades.

I bought a brand new although second hand z3 intake boot for $10. Then I removed my ASC throttle body. Then I reassembled my intake, which included adjusting the CAI since there was about .125" of contact between the MAF and the tube from the CAI. Those silly previous owners...
If I get really crazy, I might even clean my air filter.

LED Light Kit for all interior bulbs + 2x Red 3 LED light bars retrofit into a pair of extra "Vanity Light" housings I cut into the ceilings for the footwell - got lucky and the Amber color matches the BMW panel perfectly.
My first M3...was in superb physical condition for 230k miles but almost all the bulbs were out - fluids empty...just generally "lightly neglected" so my eBay, Amazon, and Bavarian Auto Order History's read like the Magna Carta right now..

Wired LED's into my sub-box and footwells (to run off interior dome/trunk dome activation)
Bought stitched leather for handbrake and shifter knob, however, didn't realize they didn't come with the hardware. Getting the old leather off and new leather on properly (and securely) made for a hell of an afternoon putting off work.

New front lip and zhp shift knob. Surprised how much of a difference the shorter weighted knob makes in shift feel. Well worth the $$

It worked fairly well. I put on several coats. I didn't actually paint the entire calipers because I was paranoid about causing fitment issues due to the thickness, but in hindsight I could have with no issue (obviously I masked off the bolt holes/mating surfaces, bores, bleed nipple, hose fitting, etc...). I focused on the exterior parts of the caliper and bracket that you can actually see while they are installed. Make sure and get some cheap disposable paint brushes you can use since the one they include is ass.
It does take a while to set, and it depends on temperature. It was cooler here (maybe around 58-60F) when I was doing it so it took a day or two to really fully harden. If it's warmer when you do it it'll probably cure much more quickly.
It might also actually be easier to paint them while they're on the car, masking off the rotors and whatnot. I had them off for caliper rebuilds and bushings so I did it while they were loose.

I was going to be doing a brake job anyway so I may as well (plus; easier to adjust the Handbrake with them off...which also needs to be done) so I may as well just stilt her for a few days while they cure up. Thanks!

Are those door handles original?
I put on wheels that GG///M3 apparently doesn't like:

The wheels aren't bad IMO, just a bit different than what everyone's used to on an E36. I don't like the blue studs/lugs though. Looks tacky/JDM.
