Hi guys wanted to know if i can source a sports seat from the 1988 year from any other bmw model and put it on my 735i? yes they are memory. maybe from the e24? or the e34 m5? or any other model, as long as they look a little more sporty then the standard ones, mine are twisted anyway.
E24 will not direct fit, but E34 + E34 M5 will fit, that has the same base frame and fastening mechanism size-wise and in front the 2 hooks. E34 is diffeent again from size of base frame and there are 4 bolts or screws in front and rear of the frame to fix it to the chassis.
The wiring loom might fit, or you have to find fitting plugs. Usually in a 1988 model they still supplied all wiring looms for all possible optional extras, later that was skipped and only for what was ordered got the optional wire loom. So check under the seat and under the carpet there what wire looms are available.

Does this also apply to a 1990 735i? I'm wanting to replace my seats if its cheaper than getting reupholstered. Along with the rear seats?

Same, just check which wire looms you have already and what the donor car seats need, like memory seats, lumbar support, seat heating etc.
See here http://2009.bmwfans.info/parts/catal...trical_system/
as you can see, some wire looms are from 09/90, others up to 09/91, others from 09/90-03/1993 etc
Best is - just to be on the safe side - to get also the complete wire loom out of the donor car

Looking to buy a great set of these on eBay, they are black and I have a beige interior but planning on swapping it all out anyway.
I wanted to know if all the sport seats came without arm rests? I have not seen any photos with sport seats and arm rests except for the above photo. Were those especially made for the E32s?

You can put about any seat in as long as you are ready to fab up mounts. A common swap is E30 seats into an E28. The bases are smaller, so it requires a mounting plate.

Hey avec, this is an older thread I picked up from someone else, I'm looking at E34 seats that they are selling so I know they are a direct swap, same mount with hook, just was curious about the arm rests, seems like the picture above is the only on with them on sport seats. Thank you both.
They came sans armrests, but I believe the seat back frame actually has the mounting location and screw holes for armrests
Here is a DIY on retrofitting

i have sport seats I added the armrest from my e32 seats too. The pass was direct swap plug and play the drivers needed a little re wiring. Memory e34 seats and memory e32 originally
Me E30 87/ 325i + F25 12/ M-Sport + E32 94/ 740i
G/F’s E34 92/ 525iT + F48 18/ X1
They look so dam good in an E32. My daily is a VW CC with nice sport type seats, large bolsters on the bottom and back cushion. I find the E32 seats uncomfortable now.
