You can see how big the exhaust system is. That 3" cannon goes all the way to the B38 extractors! Big brakes next year. Just hoping to get it dyno'd this year.

Zender wheels. Don't know the exact name but something like Zender Turbines? Or Zender Turbo (insert number 1 or 2 after Turbo).

Not much as been done over Christmas. I'm recommissioning the batwing after brakes issues. I had the boosters rebuilt and one came back holding zero vacuum. Now both are working well the car is missing under load at higher rpm and pulling to the left. So the missing could be leads, dizzy, plugs or the carbies. The brake issue must be a right calliper.
The Fordcedes shown below has pushed the 633 back but when your mate needs to feed the family other projects drop in. I'll get the race car tuned on the dyno with a carbie specialis while the Fordcedes is finished. Then back to the 6'er followed by the batwing brakes as she should be easiest.

Slowly getting there.
Dyno booked for late April to May.
Front bumper rubbers now on. A mix of new, second hand and crash repaired rubbers. It will do me but I'll keep an eye out for all new rubber sections.
Recaro's still need to go in. Transition base plates need shaping.

I bought a set off you. They may be in poor nick now so I might just get back to you.
Car is now actually ready for dyno. Seats in. Other minor issues addressed. Still needs new front brakes, new dash in and a few other things but I'll drive it for a while first post dyno before new major works.

Bar to items requiring repairing that were missed under the previous collision repair, the car is ready.
The two items are;
1. Bent front 'K'-frame (subframe). right wheelbase 30mm shorter than the left.
2. steering box and bracket has broken free from the 'K'-frame.
So it looks like a new 'K'-frame. Hopefully struts and shocks are not bent.
Seats are in. This is a lovely cockpit to sit in. Period correct Recaros from a 1977 911RS.
New carpet too. I'll get the small cut near the handbrake fixed when it goes to an upholsterer in a year or two.

Snaps into gear with about 20mm movement. Will be great to race.

Insurer picked up the car yesterday to fix the front 'K'-Frame issue. And the right hand door not closing properly.
Rather wet here. Today we passed out average yearly rainfall in Sydney, and it's just April 7!
Going to be a wet wet year!

Painful, to say this has been painful is an understatement.
Does it surprise anybody that the insurer is trying to get out of the repair? That was a rhetorical question!
I'll fire this off in bullets;
1. Car goes back, new repairer says power steering bracket on front subframe cracked.
2. Insurer tries to find out if car was wheel aligned by 1st repairer. It was not, despite hitting a double high gutter head on! Negligence by 1st repairer. Negligence by assessor.
3. Insurer claims previous repair to power steering bracket as weld present, will not repair now. Unethical. I state welding is an acceptable repair methodology and car has been on racetrack with no issues.
4. Insurer then claims 1st repairer said found crack in power steering bracket and claimed it was old damage. I call 1st repairer who said "we did not say that!" Insurer lies.
5. Bought a second hand front subframe.
6. Got a specialist inspecting the weld.
7. I'm a structural engineer. The failed power steering bracket has hammered out! Must have been the accident! That is clearly impact damage.
8. Photos tell you where we are at.
20220707_135436.jpg
New front subframe to go it. Will have cleaned and painted 1st.
20220713_120952.jpg
Bracket should look like this.
20220713_120815.jpg
Existing bracket looks like this. And was missed during the original repair. Car is undriveable. How the hell did the original repairer approve this as fixed!
20220713_120313.jpg
I seem to always end up here. In this case incompetence by insurer and 1st repairer.

My mechanic put the second hand front subframe in and bolted it up. What a surprise, both wheelbases are exactly the same. My front subframe was obviously bent in the accident, by at lease 30mm.
It needed to be replaced irrespective of any repair to the power steering bracket as this bracket adds no strength to the frame. Frame bent when it hit the kerb.
Hopefully I do not need to take my insurer to court but happy to do so if they do not pay for a proper repair.

Front subframe new. All linkages and bushes new.
Will get Megasquirt expert across in the next week to do an in-shop tune check and mayhaps a road check, then book dyno.
Post dyno, new front calipers and disks.

Started the Tune Check Friday night.
Running very rich. Plugs fouled but expected as sitting for 2 years while being repaired then having the dodgy insurance repair, repaired.
Running at 10:1 AFR so way to rich and we were struggling to pull the fuel down.
Could be the two PLX O2 sensors need calibration or could be the plugs.
We'll spend a week or two mapping then spend a Saturday morning working it out.
Once worked out and driveable on the street, we'll book the dyno in.
Vid has the Batwing Racer with the Group A engine in the back half.
