I know it's gratifying to get on the fun side of this journey - Congrats!!
Thanks. Still a lot of small things to go. Took her for another drive Saturday evening with two other adults in the car with me. She hammered with instant torque. 4th at 100km/h, I just dropped the foot and she launched. In a tunnel at 100km/h, I dropped it to 3rd and floored it, wheel spin and it sounded like an F1 car (from the 70's) as it hammered to 8,000rpm. She is an absolute weapon!

I did a bit of research on tyres. The Advan AD09 is meant to be a hot street/track tyre. Really the most track a track tyre can be and still be street legal. I've read a few articles written by boy racers who swear by these tyres. And, they are the stock tyre for the World Time Attack Championships. So it will be a set of these next Month. I'm really risking something bad with so much power and my 15 year old glass slippers. So good call Gaz. A set will be on next month.

It has been a while since I posted. Things personally have got on top of me and needed to fight a few battles before getting back to the car.
It still drives like a bat-out-of-hell. Rapid is an understatement. You don't feel the acceleration as you are too busy wondering why all the cars that were next to you slammed on the brakes. Is there an accident I did not see? Why are they all stopping? Is the road missing in front? Your alarms go off! Where is that radar trap? Then you realise that it does not accelerate like an M3, it warps like the star trek enterprise!
That said it was time to get the niggly items fixed!!!!
The new dash and vents in!
The centre aricon fan out (car has no aircon anyway so why run a broken fan connected to nothing?).
The rear mount the the gearbox in!
Handbrake fixed!
And a few other items.
My good friend Eric is doing the work. Here's a Tik Tok he put together during the Work.

What tyres did you settle on? It will be interesting to see how it goes on the track. Do you have provision to adjust the alignment geometry?

I'll be getting Yokohama Advan A052's. I've probably run out of time to get in on the track for a September 8 event, but will do so later in the year.
I need to install the fire extinguisher. Apparently this bracket fits our seats. https://kap.industries/products/bmw-...uisher-bracket
I need to place tow hooks front and back as mine cannot be reached behind the new front spoiler. For track days cars need to be towed quickly, without the track guy needing to get under the car and locate items.
Race stickers, battery isolation, Tow, numbers etc.
Tape to front lights.
Wheel alignment.
Then track. Have had some very full days of late and with a 2 year old and 10 year old, difficult to get things done quickly.
Need to pick up the tyres of course as well, and they are only open week days during work hours.

New Yokohama Advan 052 rubber on. Now super grippy.
Clutch slipping in 5th, so probably on its way out. The joys of big hp engines.

I'm so glad this thing is ripping around enough to wear out clutches![]()

how good are the 052's. The clutch is always tricky. Go to aggressive and she is nasty to drive, and too conservative and it may not hold the grunt. Im going to do the clutch in the e24, when the upgraded engine im getting built goes in hopefully june/july. Are you running a single mass LW flywheel or still on the OEM dual mass?

Quick run on the weekend. Exhaust scraping but that's next on the list. Put on headphones and turn up volume.

Lovely car, I'm beyond jealous. I have a 1981 with an S38B36 and I was wondering how you made the tachometer work with the new engine? Mine has been dead since I bought it but it never bothered me much.
We ran it through a Megasquirt PRO III and a new stand alone wiring loom, also from Megasquirt. Running the large case 3.73 LSD out of the M5 3.8 as well so run a speed sensor from this. The signal from the speed sensor was working but too weak for the modern Megasquirt so we had to boost it with a small boosting device so the Megasquirt could pick it up.
