Humm, and the airbag light didn't come on? Or was the fuse for the whole system? What keyed you into looking to see if a fuse was missing?

I had drained the battery almost 100% doing some GPS diagnostic work. Got so bad the car was still in accessory mode after I'd pulled out the key. lol.
The first time I drove it after that, both airbag + seatbelt light came on after <10 mins of driving. Right before I pulled the trigger on an SRS reset tool (so glad I didn't get that outdated thing at this point), I went downstairs to take a look at the airbag fuse. I noticed it was missing and was stunned. I found the fuse few days later - it had been replaced in the wrong slot after doing a thorough check of everything.
I had not touched the fuse box since the airbag recall was performed & I'd like to *think* there's no way they did work to the airbag without doing a system check but... there you go.
I brought mine into BMW dealership for the air bag replacement, they did the passenger side and said I will receive notice when they get the driver's side air bag in stock. While it was in the shop, I discovered afterwards, the service tech harvested a part off my vehicle. I just can't believe a dealership would do that.
I went to Crevier in OC, SoCal two years ago and never received word from them since. They said they'd contact me but never did.
Sounds like you need to make the phone call again, as I had mine replaced over a year ago. Also while you are there, inquire about the drivers side too.

Tanakta air bag recall passenger and driver side. I called bmw and asked for a loaner as well and they noted service was for recall so they do know about it.

I have a 2011 x5 with the airbag recall. The dealership says they have no parts to replace it. There is a 2nd recall now on the fuel pump. Same thing - no parts available. Tried to trade the vehicle in and I cannot do so with 2 open recalls with no fix. So what's my $55,000. car worth now?
I would keep driving it.
The fact that you have a known issues and if a problem arises from those issues, BMW will have to fix the car anyway. The dealership has not turned you away saying they wouldn't fix the problem, it's just they too have to wait on the parts to be made and then shipped to them. Make sure they have your name and number so they can call you once the parts become available.

Nebie here...I just posted a thread I started a couple of days ago...didn't see this post until tonight..now....While at my local BMW dealer yesterday, Saturday, March 25, 2017...(AIR BAG RECALL) I got the 'nod' to leave..when I asked, inquired, about this recall..for the airbag issued mid 2016 for 2003 Three series....I was politely asked to purchase something or leave....I purchased the worn rear trunk emblem for the 325xi wagon I just bought a week and a half ago from another used dealer.
I am really not impressed with this. I'd guess BMW is tired with this recall and now has decided to discourage 2nd owners.
Thank you...I will address this tomorrow with Girard Toyota-BMW...New London, Ct.
I would report this deceitful treatment to BMWNA, followed by visiting another local dealer, for the recall fix.
I would be too suspicious, to ever trust, patronize that establishment again, but I'm just picky.
I agree...I'll try another dealer in my area. I do wonder though, if an attorney representing me made a phone call to remind the dealer in NL that BMW can be held negligently responsible and that the NL dealership has also responsibility.....even though the NL dealer never sold the car to begin with?....
A recall is a recall, it doesn't matter who owns the car, or who sold the car. If you are the current owner and have a valid title, then it is a requirement from the manufacture to be replaced.

Hendrick BMW Northlake performed both recalls on my 04' 330i.
Part numbers used
32-30-6-877-590
51-45-8-146-760
07-11-9-905-374
72-12-9-394-543
I get a 'dead end' on this recall because I am a second owner, not a first owner. Frankly speaking, what if I ignore all this, is the original supplied airbag going to kill me?...if not swapped out? I've never been in an accident, or much less one that deployed an airbag. I can see that members here have been concerned as I am too, but a fight with a dealer to receive replacement has become discouraging and time consuming...probably just what they planned...I now give up on it....my first car, a 1964 Plymouth Valiant, had no protection at all and few people back then harnessed a seat belt!

Well I am the second owner of my M-3, and had no issues getting both of my Airbags replaced.
If you are having a problem with a local dealership, call BMWNA customer care at 1-800 525-7417

Thank you....my local BMW tells me NO!....I will call BMWNA...Thanks..........
Didn't call BMW...car passed inspection. In all likelihood, NO, I doubt the air bag will expload and put my eyes out. I do know there is, or was, a lobby to discourage second owners of BMW cars airbag issues. Go fight them in court....it will cost you more to win a court fight!
Your a gambler, don't understand why you didn't put a complaint in with BMWNA,
that's why it's called a customer care line.

A Safety recall doesn't matter who the owner is, BMW has identified that the Airbag is bad and must be replaced.

FYI, this recall is still open. I ordered a new master key and had my VIN checked by the service department. Takata air bag on passenger side has not been replaced. They told me to bring it in. 2000 323iC-A.
Has anyone asked BMW if they would give the replacment parts to the owner?
