I had my recall for my 2003 330xi done on Monday/Tuesday. They gave me a loaner 2020 330i. It was nice. I bought a 2016 black 528i M-Sport for my wife to use as a grocery getter the previous week. I ended up having them do a complete inspection on my E46. The estimate for every thing came to about $4100. (See my breakdown below. ) LOL! I ended up pricing all of the parts myself and it came out to be $192. I plan on knocking out the laundry list of repairs within the next few months. I paid BMW to do the upper radiator hose because I didn't want the car to overheat on me. They also did a compression test for more coolant leaks but didn't find any.

Cylinder Head Cover Gaskets - Replace 735.65

Full Flow Oil Filter Housing Gasket Seal with VANOS Line -
    Replace 829.29

Hoses, Power Steering Supply, Return, and Pressure - Replace 1213.45

Both Drive Belts, and Alternator Belt Tensioner - Replace 918.28

Upper Radiator Hose - Replace 211.30-Completed.

How did you find valve cover and oil filter housing gaskets, VANOS oil pressure line, belt tensioner, belts, and power steering hoses for under $200?

The shitty mechanical tensioner and a belt is over $100 at Autozone, and the power steering pressure hose is another $100.

But to be honest, my power steering hoses have been "leaking" for 200,000 miles and I've yet to replace them.

Had my passenger airbag done a couple of weeks ago. Dealer recommended hose replacement along with drive belt replacement. quoted me $1200. I'll tackle this myself.

Still going on and still seeing them come on regularly at the dealer I work at. BMW sold a lot of these cars, and they're still floating round out there. If you're not sure check and see if your car has been done!

Took my car in for the passenger airbag recall. I asked them to check this hanging connector under the seat. Something to do with bypassing the occupancy sensing mat.

Is this connector normal like this? Can I can just tie it back up?

It must be hooked up to some socket under there considering those are electrical wires. Unless it was connecting some aftermarket installation that has since been removed.

I'm used driving around with my airbag light on. Car came like that. What really brings about the airbag light

When I run a diagnostic test on it, it says 'Resistance too high'

Resistance is infinity from a wire that is connected to nothing. I think that'd qualify as "too high", lol.

That plug could go to any number things under the seat. Without seeing under the seat it's hard to say whether it should or shouldn't be connected. A technician's time is $$. Checking that would involve a separate customer pay diagnostic as it is not related to the replacement of an airbag unit in the dash with faulty inflator.

It's still hanging like that and the car seems perfectly fine, so it's probably fine. Someday I will pull the seat out and take a gander.
