Jeff, where in the hidden menu do I go to enable DSP compatibility

Ctrl-Alt-Del and then select Task Manager. Click on Services and then right-click PerfHost and enable DSPCompat.

I signed up to this forum for this thread. A few websites I have read list the N6 as "DSP integrated" which really makes people believe it's plug and play. I'm glad I researched before I purchased. My radio/nav has not worked in 5 years, and I'd really like to get it back up and running, with some upgrades, of course! DSP integration will prevent me from having to purchase a $575 crossover and replacement amp.

I was looking at the boot screen images on the first post. The one with the roundel and the faded E60 M5 in the background... I think it would be pretty cool to have the same thing, but with an E39 in the background. Not sure if it's possible, but just throwing out an idea if someone is capable of doing so.

What Jeff sez... If you have DSP and don't want to rip EVERYTHING out a little patience will be worthwhile. I've been up and running since last Friday and it was fully installed by Saturday evening. The integration is vastly improved over the way my D99+ works...

I'll say this much, with the gas crossover amp combo it's a tremendous difference in sound quality as opposed to the DSP amp. I know, cause the issue is for the DSP amp to stay on... In that brief time it stayed on the sound quality does not compare to the crossover and amp combo.

Select bluetooth as your source (press the right side knob), input *123456# using the onscreen keypad and press the call (off hook) button. A hidden factory settings menu will pop up, select AREA: USA and leave everything else alone.

The FW update seems to fix the presets.

I didn't have an AREA option, but I did find where to pick a different startup logo

With the gas x-over and amp combo, the DSP functionality doesn't matter correct? Do you still have stock speakers or did you upgrade them already? I've been waiting for DSP issues to be resolved, but I've also been interested in the gas/amp setup too.

No worries about DSP. I kept the stock speakers, all they need is a nice crossover and amp to wake em up. Gas x over makes it sound so much better.

The area option is now just in the system settings. EU or USA, No need to dig into any service menus anymore.

Just an update for you guys following the DSP situation....Here is the whole story up to now (september 2014).

Dynavin worked out a way to keep the DSP amp (something nobody has done in 17 years of the DSP systems existence). They included this DSP compatibility with the new N6 E39 unit. When we got some units shipped out we found that the N6-DSP compatible units were NOT working with US spec cars....they worked in Europe, they worked in Asia, but something was different in the US and they were not working. So I lined up a couple people who could test and do some troubleshooting for us and we went to work on it.

As of last week we have it working, in a test car at least. So We/Dynavin believe we have it figured out.

BUT just because we have one car figured out does not mean I can say with 100% confidence that it will work with ALL cars.....so Im bringing in a batch of units that are going out to people who already have expressed interest in these, once I hear that those installs are successful (or deal with any issues that may arise) Ill stock up and make it public that we are ready to go with the DSP compatible unit.

SO.....be patient....its for your own good!

Put me down for an e39 DSP unit when ready for public consumption. Doing a 540iT 6 speed swap, so will be monkeying with programming if that info will be important when installing the new head unit. Will contact your office directly this week. -Rob
