After about 5 minutes the unit started making outgoing calls and ending the call repeatedly while switching music in and out between calls. I turned off my phone and restarted which didn't help. I then turned off bluetooth. The N6 switched to radio and kept skipping through presets. The "source" button became unresponsive. The volume would turn down to 0 on its own and it would scroll through the pages of apps. I reset the unit thinking that would fix it but its still doing the same thing.

    Anyone have any advice?
That's exactly what happened to me. Tried to reset and reconnect bluetooth multiple times to no help. I sent it to warranty repair in september, still haven't got it back. They say they been waiting for parts for a long time now.
    I don't recommend Premier-Retail on Amazon UK

I didn’t buy from premier retail. I bought it from Jeff because of his support.

I just wanted to warn potential buyers.

Just picked up the N7. This might be a pipe dream question but has anyone ever toyed with the idea (or even attempted) to have the video feed from a windshield mounted dash cam to the bigger screen of the Dynavin?

    Jeff,
What has been the most ideal place that you've heard from folks for the GPS antenna?

I noticed (at least on the N7?) that it has a magnetic back. Is the antenna meant for exterior application with a clear line of sight or can it be tucked inside such as in between the underside of the roof and the headliner? Will it affect the effectiveness if it's magnetically attached, say on the metal support structure under the dash with all that dash material above it and surrounded within a confined space?

    Thanks,
    MANGo

Rear deck, I suggest using an OEM GPS antenna. I didn't quite like how dynavin's was dependent on a metal surface. I had almost 0 signal under the dash on the cross member.

    (N6's also magnetic)

    Great feedback DKing,
If I'm going to use the rear deck, I'm going to have to go the route of an OEM GPS antenna like you suggested. Do you have one you would recommend?
The one that came with the Dynavin I believe is not long enough to go from the rear deck back to the unit.

    Thank you,

It is long enough, barely. I routed mine from the middle of the rear deck and under the rear seat, and up the trans tunnel, under the carpet.

You can’t do it down the rockers unless you extend it. Mine is an N6 unit if it matters.

Any of the OEM ones is fine. I think they go for ~25$ on ebay.

I think Jeff referenced it somewhere in this thread that a 15 ft Fakra cable will do the trick. Someone posted a specific link iirc.

If you have a standard windshield the underdash location on the dash crossmembter will work fine, BUT uncoil the GPS wire so its not in those tight concentric circles. Those are a recipe for interference and reduce reception. If you get little reception there its probably because you have a metallic coated solar reflecting windshield (aftermarket or stock) and its blocking the GPS signal. In those cases go for the rear deck. You can get a GPS fakra extension for cheap on amazon or ebay if you need a little more wire to get it there.

Hello, installed the N7 about a month ago, maybe more don't really remember lol. To be clear, I have an E39 540i with DSP. Recently, maybe starting about 2 weeks ago sometimes when I start my car, everything on the N7 unit works as it should, all menus work, nav works, I can select and browse whatever i need but there is no sound. No matter if change sound settings (check/uncheck DSP) even turning the engine off and on again doesn't fix it. Haven't been able to make out a pattern. When it works, it works, sound never cuts out, volume and all settings work 100%. Just very aggravating when I start my car on a groggy Monday morning and I have no music for my ride to work.

email me if you bought your unit from us, DSP does not always play nice and we have a few different firmware versions for that.

Jeff, what other issues are being reported with the N7, as you said you have a few different firmwares to address issues?

Different version of DSP integration software, nothing you would see as the end user (besides the amp working or not).

Hi Jeff! I’m having the same issues as Roxie above. Purchased from you guys. Best way to get ahold of you?

Question on rear view cameras options: has anyone found a camera that has an integrated light, and that replaces the factory license plate lights? If yes, is the light bulb on that camera LED or an incandescent bulb? I want the bulbs of both license plate lights to match! Thank you.

I think there is that type of camera available. But what I ended up doing is getting an aftermarket camera with integrated trunk release button made for an e60. It’s physically fits in the trunk release in the e39. All I had to do was cut off the E39 connector and solder it onto the e60 trunk release and it works like a charm.

Good to know. That seems like a higher quality solution; the E39 backup cam/license plate lights are extremely cheap-looking.

Hi Jeff, I have the N6 head unit with the hifi stock amp. Can I swap out the hifi amp for the stock DSP amp directly?

No, you would not want to do that, not even sure its possible but even if it were it would be opening a can of worms. Replace with a same as stock amp or go full aftermarket and replace the speakers as well.
