Also one thing I need you to bust Dynavin's balls on.... and this is pretty major IMO

The E39 FAKRA connector for the antenna is a right angle plug. When connected to the Dynavin you cannot slide it into the cage as it greatly interferes. The locking tit on it forces it to clock downward.

It wasn't too big a deal to reach my fat hand up behind it slid in as far as I could against my hand and snap it into place. Getting it off without breaking it in the future will be tough, and almost for certain it'll be broken by anyone that tries to just pull the unit out.

Simple solution would be clocking the connector on the PCB so the right angle faces the center of the unit, IE how it is on the OE head units....

Good call.....Nobody has mentioned it yet but I understand what you are talking about. The stuff you dont find until you actually get them in the cars!.....Yeah the E39 shares its chassis with all the other single din dynavins (E46, E53, E9X, etc....) and none of them use a bracket that is as.....restrictive.....as the E39.

Ill let them know and have them clock the connector 90 degrees going forward to make it easier in the future.

Well we struck out the first few times.....but dynavin is currently sending a couple ibus boxes to our guinea pig directly to speed things up. Its not done yet but I promise you, its being worked on! Its going to be a big deal for us and for dynavin so its definitely not being ignored!

Jeff are you having any luck with the unit displaying embedded cover art from FLAC files or are you putting a cover.jpg in each directory?

I can't seem to get it to display embedded, but wondering if its something I'm doing wrong. Cover front is ticked in the metadata...

My files are not FLAC, although I tested a few, I'm using 320kbps mp3s mostly...I used media monkey to embed the album art and tags in the files, not the directories.

lots of places for things to go wrong when it comes to ripping and tagging....

Jeff, I have been getting more familiar with my N6 and have some more questions. I did order a new 7th Gen IPOD Classic to test out but I am not optimistic. I want to be able to play ALL songs by an Artist but I am taken to Album level when I select Artist and see no provision to play all. The IPOD does give you the option.
Any way to jump to "Now Playing"?
I still have the problem of the IPOD Touch not pausing when I exit the car so when I return I'm on a whole different song then when I left, may be remedied with the new IPOD.
What "Apps" are they referring to? Can I add a calender for example? It would be cool to sinc my Google calender from my phone to the screen with the bluetooth connection, is that even possible?
Does each source store it's own EQ settings?
Email me the firmware update whenever you feel it's "good enough" please.

Billy, I dont think any ipod interface is going to give you that kind of browsing.....they are all built around the idea of "artist>album>song", not "artist>song".

Now music files on an SD card or USB will do that.....but it would be via the media tags, not through the folder directories.....so it would be entirely dependent on your music being tagged correctly.



As for it not pausing, that is not normal, I think something is up with that ipod. I suspect your new ipod classic will pause as expected (mine certainly does)

I cannot, in any format within FLAC get it to display album art, or Artist/Album on the screen. Only the file name.

Every file is meticulously tagged, and the art is embedded as 500x500 JPG @ < 256k





Note no album art in the browser either.

Nice looking tweters, what are they. Got pics of your setup ? Are you using GAS crossover ?

I have the GAS PCN in my wife's 528iT, but not in my E39. I've got a full blown high end install in mine.

The tweeters are Hybrid Audio Technologies L1ProR2's.

3-way active HAT front stage:
L6SE, 7.1" midbass
L3SE, 3.7" midrange
L1ProR2, tweeter
Fi Audio BL12 subwoofer in a PWK Designs box.

ECLIPSE 34230 powering the L6SE (550w x 2)
ECLIPSE 32440 powering the L3SE/L1ProR2 (120w x4)
ECLIPSE DA7122 powering the BL12 (1000w x1)

The GAS PCN is a phenominal product, the sound quality in her car is really quite nice, especially considering the stock CD53 radio and the all stock speakers! Very hard to beat that for the money. Shes far from an audiophile (I'm working on her) but she greatly appreciated the difference from the stock amp to the GAS PCN w/ cheap aftermarket amplifier vs. the OE amplifier. I'm thinking strongly of buying another Dynavin N6 for her car, and setting it up with headrest monitors in the front seats so the kiddos in the back can watch mindnumbingly boring crap while she drives.

I just tried the FLAC tagging and got the same thing you did....it plays it fine, displays the file name, but not the tags. I used media monkey and got the same results you did. Ive got 8000 mp3s on this same card that DO all show all the tag info so the only variable is the file format, FLAC vs. MP3. Ill report this to dynavin to see if its something software related that they can bake into the next software release.

Yes, in fact, if you are up for it, get some good shots of all the source screens I'll use them in my original post....right now they are all workbench pics since I don't have an e39 at my disposal at this time.....
