When you said "no tension on the oil pump chain", and if i am not in a mistake ( the workshop manual can confirm ), there should be around 7 mm of slack.

    - - - Updated - - -

According to this... it should be 10 +/- 2mm...

Agreed. When I checked mine and read through everything (10 +/- 2mm seems to be the same for both M62 and M70), my understanding was this figure shows total chain deflection.

Also a question. If the pentosin is getting pushed out the refill canister does that mean that the brake bomb is shot?

The reservoir should be filled to 1cm from the lip when the brake bomb is fully discharged (after lots of presses on the brake pedal) - so even if the bomb was losing pressure the reservoir should not have overflowed.

This happens to me too. I was thinking about changing the brake bomb before looking into other issues. Please report back with your findings.

    Thanks,

I made the mistake of filing the reservoir without emptying the brake bomb. When I first started driving the car and using the brakes I forced a bunch of the liquid gold out the top of the reservoir. I believe that if the brake bomb is full, the reservoir should be filled just up to the very bottom of the mesh screen.

What is the status of the rack and pinion conversion? Did it work? What was it from? Do you have any more pictures of the install? I know I am not the only one interested in this. :-)

Steering project just got cancelled. Maked lesa space for headers so I won't gain anything.
Old steering column is being regenerated along with the steering pump
