Transformed! After 7 years of looking at variations of this:121.jpg, I finally found these.125.jpg. With my new steering wheel, she's finally starting to come together inside.130.jpg. Excuse the mess, still working on her. I have the headliner out, and am looking for material to recover it with, got the sunroof working well last week, and am almost done with one side of the hatch wiring, off to buy more solder. Making progress.

Went to go replace my cabin air filter to find out I don’t have one. If any of you see me at EuroHanger I have one for free.

    Love the steering wheel.

Got my bbs rs barrels yesterday. Now the pain begins assembling them starting with the drilling

Thanks. It's in much better shape than it looks in the picture. A bit smaller in diameter, and a bit thicker around than the stocker, it makes the car feel much sportier. I found it on a day the junkyard was having a sale, too, $32 bucks including the airbag. Two big junkyard scores in around a month. I would have brought home a decent seat, too, but they had it all the way back and down, and I couldn't figure out how to get the bolts out of the back.

yesterday and tooday, chased a coolant leak at the block. Redid thermostat housing gasket and new thermostat. Leak persisted. Changed waterpump gasket. Leak persisted. F#^*. New waterpump today, granted its been raining all day so its tough to tell but it seems to be gone.

I finally managed to get the rear hatch wiring done. I turned on the lights and fired up the car, and immediately thought I had blown out something in my dash. Then it dawned on me. The dash works fine, I'm just not used to seeing it with no error messages! Now I feel like a real Touring owner, having finally done my hatch wiring. I put it off for around six years, due to being intimidated by electrical things, generally. Turns out , while it was a PITA, and quite time consuming, there really wasn't anything difficult about it. First time soldering wiring together and using heat shrink tubing. My soldering was crude but effective, and the heat shrink hid my lack of soldering skill, win/win.

    Seems it does

Electric sports seats being repaired. Lethereque crack filler seems to be working well. Lots of coats. I’m going to airbrush in lotus white to match the rest of the interior. Not friendly when working on the car but looks nice when clean.

You remind me I need to do something about my seats. I'm in Australia too which has a leatherique distro (ppco) but never respond to emails. (I have a ton of questions because they don't list utlramarin as a colour)
Looking at the USA site doesn't fill me with confidence that they would fulfill OS purchases.
Where did you get the crack filler from and if it was their site when I ran through the process it seems to switch to various retailers offers and changing to .org I think?

I wish the aussie dealer was better at the game, I might have to get something from another manufacturer/supplier because I need something done soon just so I can take my kid out in the e34 for a car show type event.

Cool, many thanks. I might have to search ebay myself (unless you have a link), and also get dye done locally (so I can get someone to colour match ultramarin, since that's not on the leatherique or any websites as well so local colour match may be the safest option)

Talked with member Vollosso yesterday and looks very promising to single turbo my 540i and take out the Vortech s/c kit. I have always liked the idea of more boost, so hopefully this will pan out. If not, no big deal as I am having a lot of fun driving my 540i's new garage mate; Porsche 997 Carrera S:

Do u have special ceiling where rubber acts as Velcro.

Jimmy one thing u will lose going turbo is the spectacular noise a supercharged bmw makes. Perhaps a larger vortech or some upgrades to the bearings etc can run your vortech harder

to continuee the trend of fix 1 thing have another break, fuel pump died last night at my jobs parking lot. threw in a E2448 walbro 200lph (not the 255 most people and autozone say it is) since its the only thing i could find new for a decent price local and immediatly. Then when i got it home changed the oil and threw new valce cover grommets in hope to make it stop leaking

Trying to figure out what's up with one of my parkers. It's out sometimes and if I tap on the light, it will come back on. The plug isn't loose so I'm a little confused why tapping from the front of the car makes it work again.

"Rebuilt" one of the rear window actuators. Took it out, cleaned, re-lubed and installed different motor I had (old one would not open every time)
Seems like it's working again now.

Replaced right door seal with new and then cut and "extended" rear ones. No more "shrunk" seals on doors.

Thanks for suggestion, as even though I really like my s/c set-up and has great hp, I am not too thrilled with getting to that hp level atop her redline. I need/want more tq and hp mid range or as they say, under the curve.

Yes it all goes abit bezerk at the top end. I guess it’s what I like about it as u can drive it normally if u keep rpm below 3000. The centrifugal is a lot easier on the engine internals but for memory yours is a built engine in any case.

Yes, I would like to take advantage of the JE Pistons, Arrow rods and VAC built Darton sleeved block.

Finally replaced the AC Condenser and a new Receiver/dryer. It seems to be holding and is cold as a very cold thing...

got a Nissens brand Condenser and a new Depo brand Aux Fan which strangely doesn't seem to want to mount up .. I could only get two of the rubber grommets and bolts seated and tightened with the third the bolt opening on the frame of the fan is about a half inch off from where the rubber grommet is when seated in the condenser bracket and of course the fan shakes badly when it runs...

gonna have to see about repositioning things I guess.
