Pulling the motor. M50b30 rebuilding.
Installed a new stereo system in my ‘89 535i. Pioneer head unit, JBL GTO 508c components in the front, JBL GTO 2 ways in the rear, & a 10” alpine type r sub in a vented closure for the trunk. All of this is powered by a precision power black ice amp. 100% better sound than the stock system.
Bought and installed a new battery, pulled the windshield ventilation covers off and cleaned out the dirt and crud from the cowl.
Mounting a volvo lip! Found one i’m at a pick n pull about 45min from my house. Only one on the lot and only $15
Doing a few things.
All new subframe bushes, new clutch, and new 8pk setup for supercharger. Only a few more weeks to go as some parts take abit off time to sort

Using some ceramic tailings on the clutch. Subframe is out. Going to strengthen up the flimsy diff mont plate as the oem one is still in tact but I’ve seen plenty of them break. While the welder is there we will weld in the slotted front camber adjustment housing. It will be nice to adjust camber from the bottom.

Installed new fuel filter and rubber lines at tank. Found a screw in my right rear tire, pulled it and plugged tire.
What did I do to my E34 today? I drove it.
Yesterday I installed 1 new trunk shock
Switched headlights from stock to projector style from a '95 540i. Found that sometime in the past either someone spilled a LOT of ATF while filling the PS reservoir or it leaks a lot, greasy dirt everywhere under it.
Went to the local pick-a-part and grabbed four good door cards from same 540i. They are tan but way better than the garbage I have now.
Changed out hood lifts for good used, now my hood doesn't try and kill me every time I open it.

Hello from SoCal. Picked up a 1990 525i Manual Silver with Indigo Blue Leather Interior with only 52,000 Original Miles. Swapped spark plugs, Fuel Filter, and Fuel Pump as the car was sitting around for the past few years. Only driven 10K miles in the last 17 years. I need the front windshield moulding/trim but it is so darn expensive...
Re-timed the cams in the M60. I think something is up with a guide, chain, idler....something. Using timing blocks, bank 1 roughly centers the cam gears in the middle of the adjusting slots. Bank 2 however is all the way against the end of its adjustment slot and the blocks barely sit flush against the heads. Considering pulling the front of the engine apart to investigate, or finish the M62 build & hurry up and swap engines.
Replaced the front door weatherstripping around the frame for both fronts. They were gray, now they're tan but in much better shape. No mo wind noise.

ordered center link and front strut mounts. Getting it ready for full on daily duties again. Almost 200mi on the m50b30 and loving it so far.
The cost never ends when upgrading.
Welded re-enforcement plate for diff mount bracket. New drag links for the front steering, slotted camber bolts for front welded in.
Installing the 11 bushes for the rear subframe then putting everything back together. Scored some electric sport seats so repairing them now in preparation to dye them lotus white

Got the LKM resoldered at last so no more intermittent dip beam! Next I have to tackle the chattering drivers side wiper, it's like it's fixed for a few weeks and then goes back to square one again.
Did the valve cover gaskets on my m60 this weekend and installed new alcantara shift boot. Next I need to install the fuel filters and maybe a new windshield because I think mine is leaking a tiny bit. Also hoping to save up soon to refresh the front suspension
The wagon got new hatch shocks.. head is safe now.

Got my 90' 525i back from my mechanic, cured the vacuum leak and installed new oem fuel pump. Picked up some 225/50/16 Kumho tires for my e38 basketweaves and installed them today. I NEED front windshield moulding but its such a rip off...

So as the above video I posted a few days ago shows while my engine seems to be running well it does have 371,000 miles I just rolled 372,000 today I have car repairs to do replacing the AC condenser receiver dryer and hopefully that will restore my air-conditioning I replaced the evaporator and expansion valve last year which lasted through the summer and then the leak developed.
Other items getting done are replacing the cruise control module replace the water hose that connects from the expansion tank to the water manifold replacing a power steering hose which was an aftermarket brand and rubs against the brake rod. I bought a BMW part also replacing the rear intake manifold cover as I'm using a lot of oil going to have the rear shocks Koni adjustable removed and adjusted one turn firm and I think the front shocks are done Koni adjustable and they probably have 200,000 miles on them so I'm probably going to get another set of those there's a $50 rebate But I just don't have a hell of a lot of enthusiasm when there's so many miles on the engine At some point I started to consider that I would just keep throwing money at it and keep it in good running order and then if the engine croaked find a younger engine swap that in and that would cost me certainly no less than finding a new 540 i've recently replaced virtually the entire front end in the steering aside from the upper control arms and bushings which are black PowerFlex polyurethane.
I also have a brand new set of Michelin pilot super sport 235/45/17s that I will mount tomorrow on my M system wheels. those were discontinued and the replacement model is $60 more a wheel I think
