So that the "What did you do to your E34 today?" thread may never die...

I've started a new one, with the blessings of the almighty mods (all praise be upon them, and may their oil forever run clean).

I noticed my drip is a little more...motivated than I first thought. So I'll have to address this oil pan thing sooner rather than later. I suppose I should order a new seal for the pan, in case I need to remove it to get the bolt out. And a vampire pump to remove the oil. Oy vey.

Can't you just re-tap the drain plug?

I just realized that I forgot to PM you re:new thread. My bad! Glad I refreshed the page before sending the PM about 10 seconds ago.

I maybe can re-tap the drain plug. Assuming I can get it out, but I'm pretty sure it's not in one piece.

I fought with the alternator cooling duct on my M5 for over an hour today. The problem, is that the deletion of the SLS-type PS pump, and replacement with the 535i pump, resulted in a big banjo fitting being directly in-line with the duct. After using a heat gun to reshape the duct, unsuccessfully, I cut a window in it.

Now my alternator cooling duct is also a power steering fitting cooling duct. Meh.

Installed rear headrests in the touring and finished up w/ the head unit install. From here on out, all my head units are going to include Bluetooth. Technology's amazing.

Let my gf borrow the car for a week while hers was in the shop.
Time to clean the blackened front wheels of brake dust, wash off the 1/2" coat of pollen and fill the tank with higher grade fuel to flush out the 87 octane crap she put in it.
At least she got a treat for a week.

Swapped in a 3.64 LSD. Waiting for a good opportunity to "test" it.

I got my M5 running after 26 irritating days and replacing the-
    Fuel pump
    Fuel relay
    CPS
    Ignition coil
    Spark plugs
And having the DME tested, it turned out to be a bad cap and rotor. Fired up like nothing happen.

Discovered broken Eibach spring, about 3" of the bottom of the coil, just gone (passenger's front) ordered a new one from Jegs.
Straightened a Rondell (passenger's front), waited too long to straighten the wheel, so the tire is done.
    Ordered two new front tires.

All in an effort to eliminate "the shakes". I'm hoping that because all the bushings are fairly new, and the rotors are fresh, that once I have the tires and spring replaced, it'll stop shaking.

    Meanwhile, I'm driving a friends 1997 540i/6, which he has offered to sell me, very cheap, however after spending a few days with the car here's why I'll pass;
    1. 200K miles, so it needs everything that commonly fails, about $2K (probably more) to bring it back to stage 0. (Far to many failed components to list here)
    2. AC Compressor detonated internally, and even though it was replaced, the lines were not flushed well, and shrapnel has clogged orifice/expansion valves. (So no AC, oh and the rear window regulators are broken)
    3. The power is great, but why mark a 6250-6500 red line on the tach, and limit the car to 5K RPM.
    4. As badly as I would love to have a 6-Speed behind an M30, it's like rowing a friggin' canoe, especially in town. (Not to mention the shifter is vague, and the clutch is hateful.)
    5. Every warning light that can be activated is activated. (This goes back to #1)
    6. For some reason, the car feels gigantic to me, it's like I'm back in my 96 Impala SS.
    7. The clutch is possibly the most annoying I have ever driven. The only way I've managed to shift smoothly is to drive it aggressively. Must be that idiotic valve in the clutch line to slow the clutch engagement.

Sure the 540i will walk off and leave my 535i with little effort, and it gets better mileage than my 535i, but it feels like a barge.
In the end though, I just can't stand the way it looks. Oh, and the hood opens the wrong way.
I'm sure at 100 miles this was a really, really nice car, but now with everything failing on it, it's a money pit. And every time I step outside and see it, I think... Oh, who's camry?

Neither! I went with the e34 sedan fronts (easy/cheap to find) and cut the posts to fit. I'll update this post w/ pics once my laptops up, but yes! Saw it on a DIY on here not to long ago involving the radio delete plate some company sells. Thought it would've looked clean, and a pretty cool location for some switches.

How's the m52 swap coming along by the way?

Good idea on the headrests. Looks like we saw the same radio post the block off plate is oem, the phone mount is not (which I already have).
Drivetrain swap is treading water until my guy gets a couple days off work to tackle it.

Washed, dried, clayed, blacked, waxed, and waxed again. So shiny!

Edit: and as such, brought about crazy weather as a result (rain, hail, more hail, very cool temps) - so glad I kept it in the garage and haven't needed to drive it.

Suffered massive disappointment over my E34 this morning. The Eibach 2013.001 spring I ordered from jegs.com, will not ship until September.
So I either buy a whole new set, and replace both fronts, or I wait while the car sits on jack stands.
I'm getting really tired of online stores listing stuff as "in stock" when it's actually not in stock. This is the third time Jegs has done this.

It rained here this morning, so I got to officially test out my newly installed LSD. And I can enthusiastically say that it WORKS!

why not try a different spring set? like H&R's? i loved mine. vogtlands? What shocks are you using? I wouldnt just get one new spring if i were you. If ones broken, the other isnt far behind, and im sure the rears are worn as well. One new front and one worn may ride weird.

Got 90% of the welding on the front end done. Just some spot welds and seam sealer and then I can start bolting things back together!
