You get sick of people asking if that's a diesel cause of Vanos noise.
You know you are an owner when.
Your headliner is hanging in your back seat passengers hair.
Your rear speakers are dry rotted and rattle
your weather strip around the windshield is deteriorated and you have wind noise at 100 mph
you see another 7 owner on the road and you stair as if in love
you always feel like the trans is slipping
this is big where i live. (waterford, mi.) watertucky for short. You get road raged drivers giving you attitude cuz it's a big black bmw. And not a ford.
Can't go to the local o'riely's to get spark plugs... "special order sir"
i do love setting the alarm...
Hate passengers touching any buttons.
Won't valet park.
Walking around the car 2 or 3 times making sure no door dings from that idiot that parked too close.
Welcome to the forum. Stop by the E38 forum and introduce yourself.

You should not get wind noise from your windshield at any speed. The weatherstrip has no sealing duties for the windshield. Couple of things it could be. Bring it up in the sub forum.
When every time you park it you always double take and look back admiring the true beauty of it.
Or you go out and a buy a 1997 BMW 740il that needs some serious help...
And a month later you trade your dodge ram Cummins in for a 1994 740il...
My plan is to fix up the 97 and drive to 1 million miles... (has 150k now). (paid 1k for it).
The plan for the 94 is to fix the AC and a few small things and drive it to 1 million miles as well.
I have a buddy in Athens Greece that has a 1997 740i that has 850,000 miles on it. And he as not done any major engine work other then gaskets and tune ups. So I feel if the cars are treated right and what not it could be a 1 million mile car.
A few years ago I did go out and buy a 2006 BMW 750LI. That was the biggest waste of money that I ever spent. I owned that car for 31 days and out of the 31 days it was At the dealer for 28 days. Had Some serious issues. I walked away from it and they did give my money back. Never again will I buy a 2002-2012 BMW. I may swing for a new 7 Diesel in a few years. Since the 730d I had when I was in Greece was fun.
Yes 100% serious. I dont have any photos of the car but I can tell you it still looks brand new. He is very anal about his car. Oil is changed every 3k miles, air filter every 5. And the car is driven like it was stolen.
When you have to explain to people your nav is not a touch screen
Me E30 87/ 325i + F25 12/ M-Sport + E32 94/ 740i
G/F’s E34 92/ 525iT + F48 18/ X1
He did do a 6 speed swap about 4 years ago. But now has the auto back in it. Far as I know the timing chain guides have not been touched.
Hey,
His car is Alpine White on the outside and all black inside.
I know he lurks but never has time to post.
I'm not that it's that Rare. I have seen quite a few others that color combo.
Now his car was imported to Greece in 2002 when he moved from FL. Cost him around 30,000 Euros to get plates on the car in Greece!!!!!!
When you hear from your 6' 8" friend, "hey! I fit in the back seat and my knees don't touch anything!"
I have this problem all the time! I am always cleaning finger prints off my nav. I have found that showing them the hidden tape deck helps them understand the age of the nav a bit better.
Current fleet:
1999 BMW e36 M3
1999 BMW e36 328is with rotary valve engine head
1999 Oldsmobile Eighty Eight
1990 Jeep Comanche Eliminator
1962 Austin Healey Sprite
You know you're a 7 owner when...You are willing to spend more on the car than it is worth in repairs
Some days you long for the reliability of all your old Fords and are ready to cut your losses punt the 7, other days you just love driving it and those feelings go away.
Since it's a BMW, you keep a wrecker driver's number programmed in your phone just in case.
You go to the parts store for something simple and it's either special order or dealer item only.
When you have to tell people yes it has a v12.
