Hi there guys..
My 2003 e46 320i has a loud sound from the rear when i engage the gear to reverse (R) or drive (D) and press the accelerator.
Few foreman says its not the bushing, but its the long shaft.
Is this true? If it is, why is the sound being created?
Kindly explain to me and give me your best advise.
Thanking you in advance.
Could be anything from the centre support bearing of the driveshaft to the differential bushing.
Could also be one of the cv/universal joints on the driveshaft.
mine had the exact same problem, mechanic is in the process of replacing the tail shaft coupling and welding/repairing a cracked subframe
yours could have either or both of those problems i guess, get it checked out asap before it gets worse
Yah sorry, Can't troubleshoot this one without actually being there. However I'd not throw out the diff bushing as a posbiliby so quickly. It's not easy to see sometimes when it's bad and it is very common.
