I had it running for a bit last night, filled the power steering and coolant. Running with not cats or O2 sensors it runs a bit rich and growls and barks. Kind of sounded like a demonic language.

I can vouch for that, it is a true beast with no exhaust on it. I heard it last night.

I don't like the way if fits. The end links are at a sharp angle and it can touch the subframe.

It's close, I can vouch for that, so close it can shear the wire on your left rear wheel speed sensor...ask me how I know.

Excellent and impressive work you're doing here. Congratulations!
"Let me tell you what Melba Toast is packin' right here, alright. We got 3:15 open differential with an M5 sway-bar outback, a 4.4 liter V-8 with Bosch sequential fuel injection, four cams, 32 valves, VANOS units using Beisan Systems seals, 10 to 1 pistons, a conservative 282 macht schnell horsepower, all planted to the earth with AC Schnitzer Type II Racing Wheels and Michelin PS2s at all four corners, an M5 rear sway-bar outback, and a Strong-Strut tower brace up front. We're talkin' some Deutschland muscle."

    Secondary air delete

Hood meet engine, Engine meet hood. You both can't have the same space.

Can you so the secondary air pump delete in the m62tu? What's the benefit of it? My light came on for it the other day just don't know either it's the silver valve thing or the pump

Oh, I have already taken the EWS out of the S62 DME so it will start with my 740's key, also disabled the SAI since its plugged shut (another S62 common thing), and set the sport button memory.
Can you please explain this further? I just found out that my donor engine from an Alpina B10 will come with the DME and EWS but is missing the key. Blackknight530i already advised me but I need a creative solution otherwise my engine swap is dead.

In theory yes. People over on M3 forum have figured out the location of just about every feature and setting in MSS5x series of DMEs. Problem is there isn't much of a hacker following for the ME7.2 so there isn't much info available.
The SAI blows fresh air into the exhaust stream on cold starts to help the cats heat up faster for emissions. IT does not effect how the engine runs.

The only thing I know of is to send the DME, EWS, and a key to someone that can rematch the 3 together. Like http://www.rmsonlinestore.com/main.sc I have not used them but they claim to be able to do it.
The $1500 they charge to remove the EWS in the MSS52 seams a bit steep. It took me all of 5 minutes.

    - - - Updated - - -

    Today's update...
Got the fuel pump and regulator switched over, correct clutch switch installed.
I had to take one of the valve covers off because it was leaking. Apparently I forgot the dab of RTV where the front cover meets the head. DOH!
Still no driveshaft, maybe tomorrow. I don't want to try to fit the exhaust until the shaft is in. The M5 cat pipes and the 740 back half only line up sortof. They are different diameter and the spacing is slightly off.

Some "custom" pipe work is in order

Is there any way of shaving off a few mm without damaging the integrity of the bar?

Find someone to dump the full 512 flash off the dme then reflash
That to your dme. If you're lucky the alpina dme might have the same programming code and the all you would need to do is reflash the 64kb section aka the data portion or maps. Which is much easier.

Galleto cables off eBay can dump both 512 and 64 but in order to dump the full bin you need to put the dme in boot mode first otherwise you'll only get the 64 Kb data file.

You can verify the code numbers on the dme using inpa

So u bought engine on eBay? Seemed like a good buy of you can work out the shipping from Hong Kong.

You might also be able to use a 4.6 x5 flash and you could do that with winkfp.

    Good luck

It closes, Still have to take the hood off and weld it back together. I'll take it for an alignment on Friday then tackle the hood and the air filters.

Nice Trevor! How is it with the M5 diff? Have you laid some "11"'s down yet? Did you already get the exhaust welded up, or are you running it right off the cats?

Also, I see you went with the 749 moniker as well, curious about the Csi though. I thought the C usually referred to a coupe.
