Need advise on alignment for '08 335i

i took my '08 335i into the shop for a front alignment. They are telling me that they can't get the steering wheel straight and wheels straight because my left front strut is bent and needs to be replaced in order to resolve this alignment issue. the front wheel alignment itself doesn't seem perfect either, the car pulls.

first, does this make sense? that is, or could it be some other piece of the suspension causing the problem? seems like they want to start with the most expensive piece.

Second, does $841 for replacing the strut and a new alignment sound reasonable?

    thanks

I hate to say this, but I had this happen to. I took it to bimmer after that and they aligned it and it was fine. The front was actually in alignment but the rear was way out.
