Hello Folks,

Thinking of doing this job, which bushing tool is this? Is it the Schwaben set or something else?

1.) Will this address the issue of the car not following a straight line? The car likes to wander around, particularly if there are bumps in the road.

2.) the transmission seems to shift somewhat hard. More accurately, there's occasionally a good thump when shifting my 530i. Could this be differential bushings, or is it just the front one? Any value in fixing this at the same time?

Yes there is time to sneak you in before chickenfood, he prefers the weekend of the 21st anyways. I’ll contact you shortly about setting up the rental. bostonaudi should be done with the tool this weekend.

Tool works well, well designed for the job. Did my 03 540i sedan in about 3 hours. At 150k, my rear bushings were in great shape, front 2 showed some minor tearing starting, probably could have waited another 50k miles to do them. I assumed they would have been like my M3 at same mileage, all badly torn.

My car was easy enough to do, just had to drop rear muffler a bit and take off the exhaust weight damper thing.

Looks like I'm just down the 5 freeway from you. My 2002 M5 has a whopping 235k miles but still runs like a champ! I've been swapping out all suspension parts, front and back. I've kinda saved the rear subframe mounts until last. I'm a bit daunted by the task but it seems others have fared well. So... here goes. Please put me down for the tool. The mounts are likely shot but I'm in no hurry, so next available date is fine. Thanks.

I just finished the job and the tool works like a charm. Can ship out to next in line tomorrow. Pic of the tool ready to pack up below;

Checked out the old bushings and took the car for a test ride. The old ones were original BMW with a 1999 date code on them. The car is a 528it Wagon with 210K miles on it. Before the car would thump in the rear and it felt loose and harsh. I've done just about every other bushing and suspension component including bilstein shocks and with the new SF bushings the car was transformed. It rides like new, handles great and all the harshness is gone. I did the job in about 2 hours with the help of my son. Real simple and easy.

I highly recommend this for any high mileage e39.
