A little bit of autocrossing this weekend. This car is SOOOO much different than the E28! The Z3 steering rack is so fast, and the car transitions so fast, I actually ran straight over a cone after I miss judged how quickly this thing changes direction.

E28 M5 wheel was just a test fit to see if they clear the willwoods! The darker wheels are brand spankin new Sport EVO wheels!

A bit of auto-x action from a week or so ago. The car was co-driven this time and the oil temp was creeping up to 260f, with the water temp just under 220f! I think the next major mod will be an electric water pump setup with a PWB to modulate the pump.

    Cool collection, fellow Coloradan!

Hope to see you at a BMWCCA auto-x soon! Do you ever auto-x the M5?

Seeing such a beautiful e30 m3 like this is one of the only times I really just lose all interest in my e36.

    - 98 m3, techno/anthrazit cloth, 124k and officially worthless - 89 m3, alpine/black 143k and officially old - 2000 323it, tiag/grey, 169k and officially boring

Thanks guys! It's #2 on my all time top 10 cars I'd like to own, I love driving this thing!

Sign up for the weekends auto-x! Registration closes at 6 tonight! https://www.motorsportreg.com/events...6#.U_SBXz29LCR

I autocrossed the M5 for the last 2 seasons, and just started running the M3 this year. The M5 was classed a bit low in 2012 and I actually won my class & was the top driver of the year by one point! At last years Oktoberfest in Monterey, it destroyed its class by almost 7 seconds on a 30ish second course! Haha!

    Cool, I always wondered what a well-driven E28 M5 could do in auto-x.

I will definitely be at the next, next event at FRA (Sept 13)--right now all of my cars are minorly broken

Crazy how similar the S14 sounds to my S38 at full chat.

Are you bringing an e28 M5 out? I'll bring mine out too!

The motor in this is the euro s50b32. An s14 has a thumpier sound than the s38!

Thanks man, back in the DTMpower days eh? I had that car from 1998-2004, such a shame how it's life ended.

Potentially an E34 M5, though I've only been auto-crossing the 911 because the M5 still needs a bunch of suspension replaced.

Derp, totally missed that; THAT's why it sounds similar to the S38

    Thanks!

Future plans are mostly maintenance/generational upgrades

    - a proper air/oil separator
    - e46 M3 ABS system
    - electric water pump & power steering

And I have a set of schrick 284's that need to go on, I'll retune the alpha-n after those are installed. Probably do the VANOS seals "while you're in there."

Yeah, last one of the season! I was hopping it would be raining/snowing, but it looks like another clear day...
