    99 540i idle , fuel issues ! Please Help ASAP!!

    Hello all!

    needing help my car has been idling rough reving from 300-1000 rpms and then stalling out, sent to the shop where the guy came up codes of cam sensors,

    So i got them replaced , still had reving issues as he said it may take a day for computer to relearn,
    So took it home engine light came on, engine stalling, reving high and low,
    I did diagnostics and error codes came up as p1159,p1161 Fuel trim additive bank 1 high, and fuel trim additive bank 2 high, what exactly do these mean??

    As well car runs fine at 1-2 grands, foot on gas parked have had to bang on gas tank a few times to get it going, if engine if facing up hill will not start, facing down hill will start, not drivable as of now, if my fuel pump going or what, sorry for the Long post

    Didnt want to miss anything

    Any and all help with be muchly appreciated

    If your car is idling and you pull the oil dipstick out, does idle change at all? Become a little rougher, perhaps? Does it create a vacuum (suck air in the dipstick tube)?

    No vacuum when I pulled the dipstick, it won't let me idle the vehicle it wants to die , unless I got my foot on the gas:s

    My concern is that you have already submitted it to a mechanic, and he was unable to resolve it. Sounds like he was just guessing. What exact codes did he come up with?

    Was this guy a BMW specialist?

    Those codes you reported indicate a vacuum leak downstream of the MAF, and the computer is trying to correct it, but can't. Carefully inspect the bellows for splits.

    And is their a actual code that would come up for a faulty or dead fuel pump or fuel filter?

    Sorry edjack,

    i dont know the code listings for the cam sensors as he replaced them , i can get them tommorow my new codes that came up today are on my thread, wondering if he fixed the wrong thing,

    I've delt with him on numerous occasions, he is reputable , but I'm frustrated as i defently want to make sure i know whats going on before i let it in his hands again,

    And if I can do er myself the more the better, they r hounds after all
