I was trapping over 130 mph last year on drag radials with a $725 DSS DS from Butters, cyro treated rebuilt M3 axles from Butters, and a 188 mm 3.15 diff rebuilt into a 3 clutch by Butters. None of those parts broke. I did break 2 axle stubs, but my launch technique was not smooth or consistent and I think they might have held if I used the handbrake launch technique that Butters was using (he had the same parts, ran more than me, and did not break anything).

The first priority is the driveshaft. The second is rebuilding the 188 diff or going to a 210 diff. The 210 diff requires $150 in parts and some prep and welding time. You can find them used for $250 to $500. Since most 210 that fit come with 6 bolt input, ideally you would buy the 6 bolt DSS DS at the same time (I had a 4 bolt and sold it to buy a 6 bolt for my 210 mm diff). I did not rebuild my 210 since it was a nice example, but will probably do so later this year if funds allow (figure on $500 for a 4 clutch conversion).

$725 for DSS, $150 for 210mm conversion (sell your 188 for the same $250 you pay for the 210), and $200 to cyro and rebuild the axles. You might be able to do this for $1100 rather than $2000. And maybe you could put off the cyro axles since some run the stock ones without issue. The only problem is that if you break one, you then have to buy another.

I've been running on stock m3 axels without any issues running high 10s trapping 133+. Just have to run slicks and know how to launch the car properly they should hold up and if I happen to break one I have 2 sets of spares!

Slicks have the reputation for less breakage with manual transmissions. They also have the reputation for being squirrelly. Have not tried them yet myself.

They're only squirrely if u run a soft side wall (which is what I'm currently running) and if u run them at 18-19 psi its not that bad just have to drive the car up top

I've been looking for a 2.93 LSD, haven't found one yet, and the only 3.15's I've found are $500. I'm going to keep looking. If I ever have enough "spare" money lying around I'll do a full front runner setup with slicks but for now it will have to be radials.

How do you fit m3 front brakes in 15 inch wheels? Because brakes are barely in the 4 inch wide wheel?

Car doesn't sway at all now. It goes straight as a arrow I'm extremely happy with it!

So you now are not swaying at all, and running the M/T stiff 2 ply ? I have a pair of Hoosiers that I've wanted to try. Maybe this year I'll look for some front runners.

Turns out my clutch didn't like the extra grip from the new slicks! So had to get something that would hold. Special thanx to butters for coming thru with this new clutch. Hit em up if you need anything he has great prices and great shipping time. New clutch is a clutchmasters fx400 btw
