yeah if the car stalls when you turn the wipers on, you've either got a short somewhere, or you're driving a british car.

It's an inconsistent occurrence, some days it will short out and others not. I'll try to get to the bottom of it.

First go on trying to start it. I check fuel, and although the fuel pump is only running with a jumpered relay, it is getting fuel and I'm almost certain it's getting spark. Any ideas? CPS and induction spark wire comes to mind, but those are both hooked up. I'll double check that the spark plugs are in the correct order, but haven't touched them since they were running. I'm wondering if I have the CPS mount on the right post, can anyone else confirm what screw on the timing cover the CPS mounts to?
Here is a video.

Damn it, forgot I have to swap the low impedance injectors for highs for the 1.3 to run them and swapping out for the newer 027 AFM, I bet that's the problem... Looks like I'll have to go source some. I'm thinking 42lbers?

So I got it starting after swapping in high impedance injectors and the new AFM. However it doesn't idle very well with the AFM plugged in, and it will stall if I give it any gas. With it unplugged however, it will idle and accept throttle just fine. If I start the engine with the AFM already connected it will also idle fine, but stall when given throttle. Suggestions?
Quick video. That 's me plugging in the AFM at the end of the video, causing the engine to stall. Note: 02 sensor still isn't hooked up.

How does it run @ idle with the AFM disconnected? Rich, lean?
Do you have a voltmeter you can measure the AFM output while pushing open-->closed?
Are you sure it is wired in properly?

Was experiencing crazy electrical problems today and my battery had died yesterday. Turns out the nut on the starter had become loose and a good connection wasn't being made. Tightened it back up, all solved.
Also should should be making some progress this weekend getting megasquirt working.

Intercooler is in, now taking suggestions for a bigger turbo. I've been thinking of an HX35, but I'm sure there might be better options out there and I'm ready to hear every ones suggestions.

A bigger turbo is going to make your intercooler problems worse, fix that first.
Go ahead and bite. Plenty for everyone.
I did. Check out the bottom of the first post.

It's hard to follow your progress when you keep bumping the first post. Eventually you won't be able to edit any more pics in and you'll have to move on, and I'll be able to see where you're at.

You're right. I really only wanted one post for all the megasquirt information. Now that that is done, I suppose I'll update this thread by conventional means.

FINALLY!
every time you posted "First post updated" a small child got run over by a 525i.
also congrats on the intercooler. looks good. Keep in mind though, without some serious cutting, that intercooler isn't going to be properly utilized once the front bumper goes on.
Did it fit pretty well where the condenser was? if so, what size of intercooler did you use the one i have is quite a bit shorter because i planned on sticking it behind the lower portion of the bumper, but if yours fits alright i'd rather get a larger one and make some sort of air dam to just direct air into the cooler.

Hah! Yeah, like I said I wanted all the megasquirt stuff in one post so it would be easier for people looking for the information to be able to find it, but you're right, probably over kill.
To me it looks as if it will get proper airflow without having to cut up the bumper, if anything I can just remove the two covers that hide the tow hook and the ambient temp sensor. I've also contemplated about removed the passenger side headlight to keep engine temps down, but of course safety concerns arise. Some sort of air dam would be nice as well, but I don't know where I would place that without looking into it further. I'll get back to you about the dimensions.
Photo with the bumper on.

Just in case you didn't know, there are covers that go in those places that came from BMW stock with finned openings. Check out Leonator's build thread - he sold me an extra set he had laying around, but the info to get them should be in his thread. Allow more airflow without having to hack. And oh yeah - the best part is that they're cheap. I want to say like $20 from the dealer kind of cheap. So not too bad.

At first I was picturing the Mtech versions, but now I know exactly what you're talking about.
I might look into getting some time in the future. Some links for part number references.
