Couple of things to note:
- Malaysian GP is typically known for being very hot and humid. Teams will have to focus on their cooling system and overall keep the temperatures under control. Also, on the contrary, this track is also known for thunderstorms and heavy rains. This will/can become challenging for the teams considering the fact there wasn't a lot of wet track running during the winter testing season.
- Drivers will now have to cope with more heat since the cockpits do get hot from those Power Units.
- Tyres, again. Although tyres have improved greatly from last year there is still the question whether or not they will last long enough especially considering turns 12, 13, 14 where the left side tyres are under compression and under stresses.
- Last year's times were as follows - Pole position 1:49.674* (Vettel), Fastest Lap 1:39.199 (Perez).
* wet qualifying session.
Let's hope that teams such as RBR and Lotus have worked out on their troubles and that we get to see them finish the race distance and score some points. Furthermore, hope that the drivers and the teams are gradually getting along with their brake-by-wire system too. Lastly, let's hope for another round of awesome drives from all the rookie drivers - Bottas, Magnussen, Ricciardo, Kvyat, and many more.

I'm looking forward to seeing how Massa and Bottas do this week.
I was watching the Australian GP after I downloaded it and noticed that Williams were most likely the only team that were using the eight gear. I think because of that is probably why Bottas was able to catch up to any drivers ahead quite easily. I wonder if they or other the teams will utilize that top gear cause it could give anyone an advantage in speed.

The straights at Melbourne weren't long enough for the majority of the teams to utilize 8th. I think that a few teams (Williams included) will be using their joker for the gear ratios come China, Monza, Spa, etc with their longer straights. As I'm pretty sure they'll run out of gearing before the end of the straight.
I think the FP1 starts around 9 or 10 o'clock eastern time. FP2 at around 1 or 2 o'clock. I'll be staying up all night long .... hehee

McLaren has a new nose, looks like it feeds more air to the floor.
what with the deal with RBR and the tv cameras? don't all the cars have to carry the camera supplied by the FIA? as in a little wing in the nose, they have it hding in the vanity panel, by their casio sticker

Mclaren have now made it even more weirder.
Charlie Whiting/Fia are still looking into that RBR's camera mount.

Well, more work for the Lotus team now. A lot of tyre screeching and lock ups. Ferrari seem to have improved although this was the first practice session. Mercedes were still going great along with Williams.
Will tune in for the next session.
I will miss quali. will stay up for FP3, but 3:00am is too late, and I don't get NBC sports to dvr it.......

Ferrari are certainly looking stronger and Raikkonen is getting on with his car very well. FI and Williams are right there as well. Vet and Ric in top ten. However, Mercedes are still way ahead of everybody by almost a second. Although it seemed as if Hamilton wasn't feeling very comfortable as his car was quite twitchy coming out of turns. Trap speeds are around 322 km/h while the lowest was seen by Ric at 308 km/h. They're most likely carrying more fuel for tomorrow's race pace. Lotus and Caterham are the worst. Don't what's going on with Mclaren as both drivers are at the bottom of the list and hope that they get their cars ready for the upcoming qualifying session.

A quick fix for Alonso he was out and is now in Q3. RBR are fast indeed. Great drive from Kvyat who now is in Q3.

Yep, they're quick indeed. But were they quick because of rain, don't know. Should be an exciting race.
Top drivers are ///M colors
Surprised Williams didn't make it to Q3.
Fun fact. Hamilton as equaled Jim Clark's record of 33 pole position. Two more hours to go!

-The End
Boring race. This season isn't doing it for me. It looks like the drivers have to focus too much on saving stuff (fuel, tires, engine temp) instead of racing and then when they *do* race, the FIA gives stop-and-go's galore.
All the rule changes did was switching one very dominant team for another all while making the cars sound like a misfiring Honda and looking like dildos. Good job FIA!

Still not a fan of the noise. Are they out for Sunday drive or are they wringing the max from the cars? hard to tell.
Nope, it's apparently a feed directly from the FIA fuel sensor and allows us to speculate as to who's got enough fuel to mount a late charge and who'll be scraping the barrel in trying to defend?
