lol that was my first idea but not the greenest solution ever.

I will make sure it gets towed to the proper facility for safe release of refrigerant

Or Crack the line and have several large baloons handy. This usually works for me.

You can unbolt the.compressor.and.move it so you can get finished and rolling again if you really want to take it somewhere.

nice work 380whp is a very quick car. I drove around at 380 last year, and its no slouch. You will be blown away. I ran the stage 3 F1 clutch kit, brand new $525 shipped. I loved it, but had to switch to uuc due to cranking up the boost. Held my power at 380 no sweat last year.

I'm really thinking about getting either the stage 3 or 4, leaning toward the 4. Only really want to pull the engine and trans once! F1 says up to like 430ft-lbs with either one but I'm guessing the stage 4 will be a bit harsh... Idc, have hard poly bushings everywhere anyways so what's one more thing, right?

Should I expect problems with a F1 clutch and a stock flywheel? Getrag trans...

For $5xx the stage 3 comes with a flywheel. Its a great clutch. Can't beat it for the money.

I've been trying to research this.. Anybody knows what F1 clutch I'll need or if there is a difference between the M50, M52, S52 aftermarket clutches? I have S52 block and will be keeping the stock (getrag I assume) transmission from the 1995 M50tu.

The F1 S3 right at $500 with a flywheel seems like a great buy but really I have no clue what I can and can't use due to my mixed setup.. Closer to $200 is in my budget right now but I'd really like to do it right and get a lightweight flywheel while it's all apart. My research really has only led me to stuff about 24v e30's as far as compatibility goes and no one seems to use my transmission. I hear it's weak and really hope that's not a red flag but honestly I really don't want to spend the money to upgrade unless it's a 6 speed.

Youre drifting? Get a e36 m trans and a stage three F1. Its clear cut. Your trans wont make it a season.

I ran my Getrag at 300whp/270wtq (supercharged) and destroyed it after about 3 months of street use. I'm pretty forgiving on my cars too and when it blew it stripped the teeth completely off 2nd gear. I upgraded to a m3 tranny and f1 stage 3 and was very pleased.

    OP,

If you are going with the ZF transmission. You will need the DS and Guibo disc for it also. Your 325/Getrag use smaller flange.

I has a used 328 guibo. Its a little smaller (thickness) than the M3 , but I never had a problem.
Im willing to donate it to your build. Just send me the $5.80 for the flat rate box.

Now, to make the one on the left look like the one on the right! Swapping everything from M50tu --> Rebuilt S52 shortblock + S50 cams.

Perfectly fine 205k M50 shortblock, M50 cams, Getrag 5-speed, clutch/flywheel/PP, driveshaft FS soon by the way. Cheap.

Got these nice Vorshlag bits for increased cabin comfort Thanks again Casey!

Also got a .140 MLS (you rock, Butters!) and am currently hunting down a local ZF and driveshaft. Probably going with a F1 S3 kit with the lighter flywheel. My parts list is dwindling down!

Noticed that F1 clutch is no longer on eBay, now it's all FX and Kupp??? Probably same stuff different name.

Good luck with your build. For your clutch you can just go to gripforce.com to get the f1 stage 3. I just recently bought and installed this clutch. You have to buy the flywheel they offer for the pressure plate to clamp the 6 puck correctly. It will not work with the stock dual mass flywheel unless you buy a brand new one, which cheapest I found was 370 from gripforce as well.

It's funny how so many people blow up the Getrag. I know they are weak, so I purposely tried to blow mine apart at the drag strip and I couldn't. The thing is still fine. I was trapping 118mph.

I think my ZF is on the way out. The input shaft is taking a beating from the twin disc.

I wouldn't suggest trying to pair the f1 clutch disc with an OEM flywheel. The chromoly flywheel has a higher heat capacity, preventing the clutch disc from melting/fusing with it (chromoly's have a higher heat capacity, while ceramic discs have a lower heat capacity)
