Before I have to pull the unit, does anyone know the part number for the head unit (radio cassette) in a 1994 318is? RealOEM does not list it, and I cannot find it by searching.
well I know it's a CM5903L ...but not sure the BMW p/n. I can check at home if you don't get it by then? I have one in pieces in a box. I think there is a BMW sticker on the bottom or top of the radio.
JW why do you need it?
oooh, searched and found....
Part No: RS111467024U
Not 100% sure, but that's what a fs thread had. The manual also gives a number: 82 11 1 467 024

thread with links about p/n.

Thanks for checking. However, neither of those numbers show up on RealOEM. I guess I will go ahead and just pull it to make sure. The display is not showing, and I want to get a working unit back in it. I know there are some guides to resolder the board, but I don't want to get into that, and have it go out again. FWIW, I prefer the OEM look, although I did replace the stock speakers which had rotted out.
I'm 99% sure it's the 82 number. Although I too can't find it online anywhere other than ppl using it to list their radio (f/s ads).
from the radio booklet.
BTW, I went through the re-solder process, and it is a PITA. The easy fix is to find another radio that might not have something else working, and swap out just the displays. I ended up spending $30 shipped IIRC for a working display from another member.

This guy says he will fix any C33 problem you might have. I am thinking about going this route to fix my pixel issue because if I just buy a new radio it might end up with the same problem eventually.

just get a cheap one with a good display and swap them. Seriously it's not that tough - it's tougher to find a good screen though w/o bleed through.
I feel like a 'repair' place will charge you $150 to do the same thing...
ke-91 zbm. Let the hunt begin.
I have seen an Alpine version and a Pioneer version in that time frame. Pioneer has one LCD screen and the alpine have a split display.
I have 2 pioneers with bad screens. The few Alpines I see seem to be just as bad.
