305's I got are too tall... I'll probably end up getting 285 RE71r's.

Minimal pics as I'm a lazy POS.... So, LSX_M3 is almost back!! I received my revalved suspension from Stance Suspension a few weeks ago. Compressing the shocks/struts at full stiff is nearly impossible. My Eibach Springs should be in today, went with 750# and 900# rates. I'll be removing the rear adjustment collar and the front helper spring to allow the car to sit lower and to get full stroke from the front suspension.

Once suspension is installed, all I'll be needing is tires! I sold off the 305 pirelli's as there was just no way they'd fit. To replace them, I'll be ordering a set of 285/30-18 RE71R.

    New wheels

Old diff came out, check this damage!

So I've installed a newer 3.91 diff with a rouge engineering diff cover!

I've also gotten into motorcycle racing...

Are the Stance shocks 65mm or 2.5"? I thought they were 65mm so nothing Eibach offers will fit

They're 65mm but the 2.5" springs fit over the fronts no problem, I had to remove the rear adjustment for them to work. I feel if you filed off the paint, they'd fit.

Car is on the ground!!! 50% cross-weight, and somehow it lost weight... this is odd... but it weighs 2690# now with 50% weight. Tires barely fit, trimmed the fenders some more. This afternoon i'll be adjusting ride height and changing spacers to get fitmet spot on.

    Yeah she aint bad!!!

This weekend was The Speed Ring at M1 Concourse, cool event, but I couldn't be competitive! I was on borrowed RC1's (265 front with flat spotted 275's in the rear), so grip was very dynamic. I believe the spring rates I have are WAY too high for those tires, they just couldn't stay together.

Unfortunately I also damaged the transmission and broke another rear diff bolt.

The transmission I believe needs a new 3-4 shift fork since they are aluminum from the factory and have been reported numerous times to bend with race abuse. Trans is out of the car and going for a rebuilt in the next week or two... This means I'll be missing GridLife Round 5 this weekend .

The diff bolt, 4th one this year, was a very high grade, 12.4? I believe. Now I'm leading to believe it's a worn front diff busing that is causing too much play. The bushing combined with the wheel hop is what I believe lead to the bolt breaking.

So... with all that being said... I'm am 50/50 on parting the car out this winter (after having the transmission fixed and hopefully going to gingerman one more time). I want to start on a new chassis, e46m3, corvette, datsun 240/260/280... no idea. I dont think I'll sell the engine and trans, but everything else will be up for grabs.

    I get that.

One thought, a guy on the drift forum just drilled out the snout bolt threads in his diff and runs a bolt all the way through with a nut on the back. Seems to make a lot of sense to me, I don't know why I didn't think of it before..

I run an extra long bolt for that same reason, but I'm still breaking them! I'm 99% convinced it's the oblong aluminum insert in the bushing.

It's the aluminum that's deforming, the delrin is still true to it's original shape. I feel a steel insert is the only solution and a coated bolt to prevent rusting.

She's coming back! Over the last two years I've done some traveling and bought a house (biggest reason for no M3 progress)... But this spring I've decided I needed to get back at it for this car. This weekend I plan to start tearing down the transmission and figure out what I need to order, and also reseal the LS1. I hope to get the car back on a road course by August!

I also ordered a new front nose panel and rear tail panel, a good friend of mine wants to repaint the car for me!

So trans rebuild should be complete this weekend bar nothing goes wrong!
    -Billet Syncro Keys
    -Bronze shift pads
    -Steel 3-4 shift fork
    -New 1-2 and 3-4 syncros
    -new carbon blockers
    -bronze shift cup

My failure, which I thought was a bent 3-4 shift fork, was a couple broken factory syncro keys (factory are stamped steel and break with abuse).

Hopefully this eases up some of the hard shifting.

Next month or so I plan on getting the heads CNC'd along with BTR 660 springs and a high lift ASA cam

I'm excited to come back, but there is NO WAY i'll be able to compete with you guys at Gridlife. I'll still run a few events here and there for fun tho.

Haha, right! It's more because he wants to get his name out there for his business. I'll still be paying him (tho reduced labor costs) and covering all other costs.

Who's doing the tranny work for you and any idea of expected costs?

I did it myself and it was ~$650 for parts. Local shop only charges $400 flatrate for labor, next time (hopefully there isn't) I'll just pay them (D&D performance in Wixom, Michigan).

Wasn't bad but I'd rather just not do it again.

No updates on the car, still deciding what I want to do more wise but I am going to order the cage soon!!

Cage is ordered, engine bay is painted... Still a ton of work to do.

-Dropped off the rear diff to revshift to get new bushings and to have the diff bolt machine to accept an M14, hopefully that fixes and broken bolt issues.
-Also getting a crack welded on the oil pan.

How large of a wheel spacer are you using on the front to clear the porsche calipers? From what I recall you have the 17x9.5et35 wheels. Also interested in the condition of the piston dust boots.

    Update!

Cage is nearly done. I only have door bars left to do then I'll start painting the interior.

In the meantime I've also severely trimmed down the wire harness, reducing the body harness down to 3 fuses and engine is down to 4 or 5 fuses. Vehicle literally only has brake lights, wipers, signal wires for speed and fuel, and ignition.

Hope to have my parts back from RevShift sometime this year -_-, they keep telling me one more week, one more week and its been 2 months!!! booo.... Then I can drop the engine, trans and rear dif back in, get the car back on its wheels.

After than it's window net, master cut off, rear brake bias and other small misc items.

Hoping first start will be in October sometime!
