Anyone replace these yet? Any helpful tips would be appreciated before I start taking a part the door panel.

I wouldn't do it unless they're real bad it's a pita. I used oem ones from dealer and they were still had to fit right.

How'd you do it? The PO did the rear doors but not the front. It bothers me so I would really like to do it.
Never did this on my E23, but it looks similar to my E30. Just undo the nut #9 and slide plate #11, disconnect the lock and door pulls. Slides right out with a little finagling.
This was on the second 745i i sold. I did alot of work inside the doors and it sucked. The rears were harder than front so u might be ok. I had threads about it i might have taken pics i don't recall. On front iirc it was two bolts and a c clip.

check the list of work over on www.e38.org/e23 I think there is a picture how to that might include this or at least get you in deep.
Its not the easiest thing to do but if youre patient and pay attention to your steps its not bad.
Do you make it into ventura county at all? If youre in my area id be glad to give you a hand.

Is Klub Vintage in Cali or NJ (info in your avatar)? Ventura County is 5 hours away from me, but if you guys relocated to Cali, I'm always looking for someone who can complete my 5 speed swap.

I would replace the door handle while you're in there. Not that expensive of a part and it will save you time later down the road when the handle itself breaks.
