Lol, what's up everyone! Recently picked up my 2nd e36, and I though I would share my new favorite part of the car! My friend built me a custom rear diffuser resembling a design that iv'e been drooling over for awhile now, and he had it happen! He had built a his own for his monstrous V8 swapped m3 and started modifying it. I think the size and shape of the fins turned out perfect, and even taking the time to think about have a quick release type of method (3 screws on each side), incase of needing to service anything around the differential/exhaust area, and yes, it goes all the way back and covers the differential LOL! We also put on a cat-back that I had to install, and both the muffler and the entire diffuser are rock solid with no play, or any other shenanigans. I don't really track my cars (yet), so I'm not familiar with the exact advantages of a diffuser like this, but I do drive the absolute shit out of my cars on the street I can DEFINITELY feel the extra stability at high speeds giving a more "secure" feeling of spirited driving.
So a huge shout-out to "The Mad Scientist" as I like to call him, hahaha, I believe his user name on here is "Mateo M3" i'm sure hes around here somewhere lol
Anyways, here are some of the pics I have.... they speak for themselves! Advanced apology of cell phone quality pics...
Pics he was teasing me with on IG lol
Install begins!!
Exhaust in!
Who needs a creeper when you have a skateboard? (and me on standby lol)
Up close for final fitting...
The Mad Scientist and my friend Bill helping out and looking creepy haha!
annnnnd finally on and on the ground!
The next day on the lift at the local exhaust shop to finish up the full exhaust...
One more...
Shot from standing under the car facing out... so smooth!
and one last pic in the garage...I chose to use the silver bolts on the outside, and I'm glad I did
After seeing mine, my friend Tommy (Tommy604604 on here I believe) had to have one too, hahaha! He already had a more simple design that Mateo had built for him awhile back, but wanted to show me up :p Since he has a sedan, and is basically slammed, he wanted smaller fins and a more "square" shape to flow better with the sedan lines, which I think turned out absolutely great! Here's some pics I stole from him lol
and heres a comparison of mine and his...
Subtle differences, but this is what makes custom hand made stuff awesome vs off the shelf parts. Not to mention the $1k+ price tag for those ones...
Hope you all love it as much as I do, and once again huge thanks to "Mateo M3" for building me a sick art piece!
-Cheers

Why not use black bolts or just paint/sharpie the ones you have in there? They really grab my eye in a weird/bad way.
That looks great!
Wow, that's impressive. I like it!
That looks amazing! How much for the sedan?
I want one for my touring.
I like them both! Although I'd prefer the sedan one! You should produce them!
TRM Coilovers 670F/895R | BBS LM | Corsa RSC36
I was always wondering what diffuser was on that sedan. I love it, it looks great. I'm also curious on the price tag for one of those.
Nice work there. Watch out for those speed humps.
Does anyone else feel that it looks unstable? What gauge aluminum is it made out of? May be interested.
Thanks for all the love!
@chynk I was surprised of how sturdy it came out actually! I don't know if I can put my body weight on it lol, but it's not going anywhere.
For all that are interested , hit up "MATEO M3" and see if he'll make one for ya. I'm sure he can make it for other cars as well if he has the car in person to measure up.
