This thread came in handy. I found a gentleman in Tuscon that has been hauling around a Supersprint 2.8 from the early 2000s that he never mounted on the car still wrapped in it original plastic wrapper.

Indeed. You better hurry up and buy it since I found the sale listing in 20 seconds. If you get him down on price, I may have to enlist your services to persuade a local guy to sell me his ACS chrome roll bars that he will not remove from the car prior to sale. I'm almost tempted to buy the whole car for all the ACS gear that's on it.

congrats on the supersprint. Its one of the first mods I did to mine. I found a unbeatable deal (around $300 IIRC) from a lead in this forum. Mine is a oval tip supersprint which has been discontinued for a long time, hence the price. Thanks to Vintage (as always) and Caglar.

Got shipped 2 hours ago, so sorry. Will be on my doorstep middle of next week.

Also, he's not the guy selling the other stuff. This guy use to live in Guam in the service and had the car there. He's been hauling the exhaust with him with no car to hook it up to. He said at 80 yrs old, he didn't see getting another Z3 so he figured it was time to sell...

Is this better than Eisenmann with stock resonator?
I am strongly considering I love my Eisenmann, but I hate the stock resonator on midpipe, and my system has horrible skull shattering sound when pipe gets hot and it is constant motorway drive at 130-140kmh.

Does anyone have the "043506" Race version of the 2.8 exhaust?

Hi Remotion, i have received my 43506 race exhaust (2x 70mm with sharp offset m3-style tips) from supersprint today! I seem to be about the only person that i know about who has this exhaust. It will be mounted under my E36 323Ti and has the same part number as the Z3 exhaust, only another connecting pipe. I will keep you posted on how it sounds, will make a movie and some pictures when it is fitted.

I am propably stupid but I ordered one few days a go.
My car is already too noisy. Oh well, it will be less weight and better flow at least than semistock pipe with eisenmann.

I try to remember post sound clip when mine is installed. But it will be a long winter before that. Should sound "quite" awesome!

Is there any drone in the sound? I am thinking about adding low tuned Helmholtz resonator into mine. But I cant test the pipe anyway until next summer.
I have stainless headers and a race cat also.

A slight drone around 2k rpm, 80 kmh in 5th is not that great but all the other rpms are fine and do not drone at all.

That is not comparable to current offerings. Might be good buy still but just dont expect it to perform like current stainless systems.

    Do you have cats/resonator?
I have some drone with sport muffler (no cats/resonator), just got a message from fellow z3 owner that on S54 engine without cats/resonator Helmholtz resonator didn't helped much.

Is that because of its age, or its design?

No need for resonator, does not drone at all. If helmholtz does not work then it is calculated wrong. Maybe it is not to proper exhaust velocity or enough large Q value.

Yes for material and construction. That is black steel.

I know the guy who made that helmholtz very well, he does that professionally, have heard lots and lots good feedback from his resonators, so I don't believe it was calculated wrong.
AFAIK that SS muffler is painted black stainless steel, not mild steel.

My SS muffler is painted stainless steel and aluminum coated steel. But it was new old stock, made in 1996.
