    Another part gone NLA.......

I suppose it moght stop the wanna be's, but the boot badge (trunk) for the CSi has now been deleted, so anyone with a CSi needs to remove it very carefully if they get paintwork done on the rear of the car because as from now, it's irreplaceable!

Nope, no mailing list. I just work on so many cars and use so much OEM parts, I just find out when I try and do servicing and repairs and get told by BMW.

That will at least keep non-CSi owners from buying them to stick on their cars...

(Probably the reason why they ran out anyway)

Do a lot of people put CSi tags on non-CSi cars? People who go for an 8 usually have good taste and some class...

Some do. On the topic itself, there are several places in MD who will do a metal emblem of the badge and Chrome it for about $20 as long as they can get something to copy off. I had my 860i badge done from one of them a while ago.

Just stating what the trend on these post have always been.
I actually thought that this might be something that could be investigated. Personally, I would do it if I could get it in a brushed finish so there would never be a need to worry about the "chrome" flaking off (have seen this now several times - makes the car look like shit), but that is just me.

    Oh OK.

I agree on the Chrome flaking off. I am sure the local fabricator can do a brushed or polished finish as well as a choice of metals. My initial 860i badge was made in a golden color metal by someone in CA when Greg started the 6L project.

The main problem with them is the lettering is not flat, but triangular, so they could not be laser or water jet cut. I would say the best way would be to mould them in that pourable epoxy, however, they would then still need painting or chroming. This would be the perfect project for someone into 3D printing. No strength required.

I have one that is New/Nos! Never been mounted if someone needs it. Was going to put it on a car when I planted a S70 but didn't. Bought it from Al at Gault in 2005.

    This one is NLA also!

How come the middle half of any project always takes the most time?

Rog, how much did they charge? I'm going to need to order the 'ALPINA' badge as well as the 'B12 5.7' front and rear badges soon for a car I'm restoring. Also is the interior plaque still available?

You will need to supply Alpina your VIN, as they are getting tighter on selling items like these so people do not make clones that are not actual Alpinas. I had to supply my VIN for my order. Prices in Europe are a little less than they are here in the states.

They have requested the VIN as well as pictures of the VIN marking on the strut. I have supplied these and now waiting for a reply. The good thing is it seems like they have most of the parts that I have requested available but I shall see how much they will charge.

BTW Rog your restoration thread was the inspiration for me buying my B12. Great work, I hope I can do half as good a job as you!
