How do you remove E31 rear springs?

Does anyone know how to get the rear springs out of an e31 without using a compressing tool? I haven't find a compressor that will fit so far and don't feel like spending $700 on the special tool set for one job.

Unbolt the trailing arms with a jack under the rear suspension and then you can slowly lower the jack to release the rear springs. Easy peasy!

Or just unbolt the damper and remove the spring by hand.

I used a coil spring compressor, like this:

in my case, i had to drop exhaust and undo sway bar end link (17mm nut/bolt), brake carrier bolts (15 & 16mm) removed (along with brake caliper, as brake line wasnt long enough), eccentric bolt (21mm) & eccentric nut (22mm) and STILL had to press down on wheen hub to give me spacing to remove factory spring

I didn't drop the rear subframe...but all other methods I tried first.
It just wasn't enough room for me until I removed way bar end links and eccentric bolt. Then even, I needed to drop my aftermarket exhaust pipes by about 1ft to allow room to move.
My cut Eibach 1250.300.650 springs installed very easily.
