It has been time very consuming to look everywhere just to find what kind of bulbs I have so I can get a replacement or LED version. I also need various names of the same bulbs when I'm searching for a new bulb or LED version because some are listed under one name, and other are listed under another name for the same bulb.
So I decided to make this quick guide to E46 lights.

Does it matter if the car is coupe/convertable/saloon etc ? I have a bw e46 prefacelift coupe and im looking for license plate bulbs and i want to know if the bulbs are the same as the facelift's because the products i found they say that they fit on a facelift but they dont mention anything about a pre-facelift model. Thank you.
Nope, all the license plate bulbs will be the same, as well as the majority of E-46's across the board. Of course there will be a difference between the U.S. and euro version is the DRL's AKA standlicht. The U.S. will use the turns as park, while the euro's will be found in the high beam bucket.

thank you
Somebody really needs this fine job.
I'd throw in that for older e46s with single xenon headlights, it's the same bulb as the biXenon.
