    Sunroof will not open

As the title states, my roof will not open but the motor operates as normal. Have any of you experienced this? If so, can you tell me what part has failed?

    Thanks.

My first coupe had this issue, so this could be what's happened to yours.

The sunroof motor is mated to an assembly with two plastic lifting arms inside, and one of those arms broke causing the glass to stop lifting even though the motor still worked.

Not sure how it broke or if that's the only possibility here, but it's what came to mind.

Nah. I'm part of that small minority that digs the sunroof vent. I definitely have to fix it.

I have the same problem. Only one side of the roof gets pushed up when I try to open the sunroof. The other side doesn't move, causing the sunroof to twist.
I think the solution is to order a new set of sunroof kinematics (p/n 54108410693) and replace the broken slider system which is independent from the motor.

    Thanks!

$230 poorer but at least I'll have my vent back.

    Already ordered.

I won't have it until April though.

Curtis, had the same issue on my Coupe. As stated already, it's the kinematics. The arms of mine were fine, it was the rotating rod that broke and separated from the arm on the passengers side. I had picked up a used sunroof, so I just had to swap over the kinematics. It's a nuisance, but not particularly hard. Watch out for those blasted E clips that hold the kinematics to the glass. They fly like the wind, and are tough to relocate.

If your comfortable with DIY, you can tackle it. Just take your time. I can walk you through what I did, if you like. Shoot me an email if so.

You still got yours at $230? If not, you should find some of the forum members dismantling a few coupes, in the classifieds section.

I've sent an email to see if they would honor the price advertised when I ordered. Something tells me my email will go ignored.

Wholesale is >$600 for that part number. I just checked. Supply and demand rule these parts.

I would think that if you ordered & rec'd confirmation at that advertised price and were just waiting due to backorder they should have to honour the price as ordered/sold. Keep on them about it.

I can't believe it. It's done and I will have brand new sunroof kinematics today. Because I placed my order on 2/9/14, Get BMW parts.com honored the price of $191.54 + 15.90 S&H = $207.44!!!

Current price of kinematics... $652.78 http://www.getbmwparts.com/parts/200...t=Slide%20assy
