Any idea how much different the required massaging would have been with a 4l65e/700r4?

My guess would be about the same.
The 60e has the same width pan just not as long as the 80.
I probably went a little overkill on clearancing too

Cool, thanks! I'm kind of thinking about trying a 4l60e, but I also think that running a smaller converter than stock with the 80e would diminish the losses compared to the 60e, so maybe it's best to just follow your lead... Especially with thoughts of a turbo in the future. I'd be looking at a regular 80e though, so I'd lose the nice first gear of the 60e.

I just ran quickly through your "starting my swap" thread, and I didn't see any real mention of the shifter situation until the paddles. Does the 540 autoshifter play nicely with a 4L80e? That would be handy as heck!

I used a lokar shift cable kit and adapted the BMW cable to that. I have some springs to compensate for any difference in detents. Been working great for years.

Need to have lines made and wire everything up.
What is the thickness of that piece? How far additional does it stick off the compressor? What P/N compressor are you using it on?

The adapter is roughly 1" thick, it sticks out of the compressor that much.
I'm not sure of the part number, I used to have it written down but can't find it.
If I remember right its same as a ls2 gto

That would be fun. Eventually I'd like all of us swapped guys from east and west to meet up, maybe lsfest or something.

Sadly no updates to the car, had some nice weather so I stretched her legs.
Wish I had more time or motivation to get some stuff done. Lol

This is beginning to be an all to familiar sight.

Trans went out last summer but I was too pi$$ed to pull it. Asked for a new one instead of rebuilding this one to one, minimize down time and 2, they obviously can't fix this one.
But I got respectfully denied. Haha
It's off to them to get repaired, then it's time for the three pedal mod.

How about a standard 4L80E replacement?

Gonna swap to a t56 magnum. If I did swap for another 4l80 it'd be from Jake's.

Another option which is starting to look pretty nice is the 350z transmission. There are adapter plates now for $400 and you can snag a 350z transmission for $300-$500.

Gear ratios are not optimal but you can fix highway cruising by going to a lower final drive.

Sorry to hear about the teams issues. If it makes you feel any better, I'm finally getting time again to work on my swap after nearly a year. But I promise I'm going to test the strength of your mounts!

I just posted the first google search I found. I wonder if this would work fine with the 302 swap guys as well.
