    ... Finishing my swap

So this thread will track the continued modification of my LS swapped E39.

    Here's the original thread: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...arting-my-swap

It will be locked, so post any questions, comments or recommendations in this thread.

No progress on the car lately, got a new toy and have sadly been neglecting my car.

I did however add a small badge to the car today.

Hopefully I'll add pics of stereo progress and later FI.

I am more interested to see what you do with the pedal car.

So I think I've got a sticky thermostat, replacing it with a 180* stat, might even order a bigger radiator just for extra peace of mind.

Ordered a Dewitt's radiator, should be here in about 2-3 weeks.
After I get it in and mounted AC lines will be made.

Anxious to see how it fits and will probably order one shortly after you gets yours installed.

I can't wait either, 3 weeks never seems so long. Hopefully it will fit like a glove, it's very close to the same dimensions as stock.
Ordered a fan controller, I think my heat cycle problem is part radiator, part fan off temp. My fans turn off at 201-199, my thermostat is a 186* I believe, maybe it's 192*. So my thermostat isn't closing, not allowing my radiator to do its job.
I would just have the ECU fan temps adjusted by my tuner, BUT from my research the program/flash on the GMPP controller is proprietary and this feature for some reason is disabled.
I could have it flashed with a production tune but this is expensive and time consuming.

That was the same thing I was told. The temp for the fan to cut on/off cannot be altered.

Well hopefully this Painless F5 dual fan controller will do what I need it to. Comes with a 70a fuse, temp sensor and is pwm/variable speed.

Well it is installed and modified to fit!!
I now have 2-1/2 times the radiator and adjustable fan temps.

Temps stay at 199-203 sitting in traffic on a 98° day.
So far it has been well worth it. Next up is getting AC lines made... Then back to the stereo.

Yup, had to modify the way it mounts to the rad, but if fits the core great.

Do you happen to have a part number or application for that radiator? I looked on their website but didn't quite see any that had that same fitting/hose configuration.

    Thanks,

I called in and talked to John. Had it custom made using C5 endtanks then they made a core to fit.

What hose were you originally using?Been looking for some part numbers for the upper and lower hoses in a few threads but no one has mentioned them.

    Thanks.

I was using the stock lower hose for awhile when I had the stock radiator, then I went to auto zone and found a simple 90° bent hose for the upper hose. Don't remember the numbers of the new hoses.
