I travel for a living, and every newspaper and every TV News station in the country continually reports thefts of BM's by people breaking into property and stealing the keys.
I am thinking of using the function buttons on the steering wheel (the one that has a face and a couple of lines coming out of it), and possibly others, to wire a small security system so that the engine can only be turned over when a combination, or sequence of buttons is pressed. The wiring will not be a problem as I am an engineer, but I would appreciate info on the following:
Where can I tap into the wiring for the steering wheel function switches, I presume they are all normally open, providing a 12V when Closed.
What 12V feed (other than the coil and starter motor permanent live, I'm sure there must be something on a modern car) can I tap into to open/close with my control circuitry.
ThanX in anticipation.
