Little update on the engine situation.

The seller is giving me almost all of the money back and i am keeping the engine to rebuild it.

    Gte rods/pistons
    Valve job
    Bc springs/retainers
    Acl bearings
    Arp studs
    Arp rod bolts
    Oem ge head gasket

The shop will be getting a jump on the mounts and suh using another 2j/r154 they have to mock it all up in order to keep the project moving along.

Huge relief to have the claim behind me.

I'll put the ks mounts up for sale shortly. I have to make a trip out to the shop in a bit anyway if anyone is looking for a set.

Guy tried selling me a junk engine..

Should have some more pics and such next week. I am taking a few things down to the shop that is fabbing the mounts. They are thinking the mockup engine would be set in the car today to check clearances and fitment of the downpipe/turbo/etc..

I have been collecting parts for when I get the car back from having the fab work done.

What made you build your own mounts if you already have the k's mounts?
Do the K's mounts require further modifications for them to workout?

    Big Single 2JZ E36 M3

Small update. Head is heading out to get refreshed and loaded with BC goodies!

The k's mounts are fine and have been proven to work but I am very picky and the ks mounts are just ugly and not up to par from a quality standpoint. As I said, they work, they are just not for me. Also lets us make adjustments to the mounts and fit everything together. Things like fitting the radiator, fans, shifter, etc for the custom pieces that I am choosing to use.

yes the ks engine mounts are hella ugly both color wise and weld quality, but they are built like a tank. I'm not sure if your going to run into this problem but I had to cut a huge notch in the driver side mount for the oilfilter to fit. I didn't figure that out until motor was in the car and bolted down. just a head up. do a test fit haha.

Noted thanks! I was planning on an oil cooler and relocation but I might hold off on it for now. I should be play with the newer tubular mounts but we will check that for sure. Thanks!

As I said the head was sent off today, manifold bolted on and check for fit. There are a couple mods being done to it to clean up the wastegate tube for a tial mvr versus the hks style flange it has. Also redoing the twin scroll flange and divider.

The relocation kit was the only option I had after I found that out, so I took a cut off tool and spent two hours cutting that thick steel.

    Ks has new tubular mounts?

    I gotcha.

No. The new mounts I am having dabbed are tubular. At least that was the initial plan of attack. I am not personally fabbing them though. Cxracing was supposed to be working on a mount kit as well but I have not seen any sets for sale yet.

I know they are working on it. It should be done if they had stuck to what they told me about 2 months ago lol.
