Decided I wanted to do this swap in my '95 M3. I had been looking to boost the car ever since I bought it, but decided against doing a built M52 even though I had been given one to rebuild..
Car is getting the following initially..
2jzge (from 92 Sc300)
BW S366 T4 .91 exhaust twin scroll
Generic T4 Tubular Manifold (reinforced)
Mojo Performance LQ9 Coil On Plug Kit
Custom Front Facing Manifold (gte upper grafted to ge lower intake)
Tial Q 50mm BOV
Tial MVR Wastegate
Custom FMIC 3" In/Out
4" V-Band Downpipe
3" Exhaust
FIC 900cc E85 Compatible Injectors
AFPR
-8 Fuel Lines
Walbro in-tank, 044 Bosch Inline Fuel Pump
R154 Transmission
Engine is getting:
Rebuilt
GTE Rods/Pistons
New GE Headgasket
ARP Rod Bolts
ARP Head Studs
ACL Race Bearings
New Belts/Pumps/Tensioners/etc..
Valve Job/Guides/Seals
Will be controlling all of this via Megasquirt 3 with MS3x expansion board, 7m cps, etc..
Initially I will be running pump gas and shooting for something around 550whp, stock cams, stock 188mm diff.
Second phase of this (likely next winter) will be cams, surge tank, e85, 210mm diff, ~700whp.
I will be retaining all of the creature comforts that I have in the car right now, such as cruise control, a/c, etc..and using all of the factory BMW gauges.
So...I began picking up a few items..
S50 coming out (SOMEONE BUY MY S50!)
Couple weeks later..my engine showed up!
JE 9.5:1 Pistons
ARP Studs/Rod Bolts
ACL Bearings
Fresh Rebuild
GTE Rods
Looking forward to this, I cannot wait to drive it!
Car goes to the shop to have the driveshaft, IC pipes, mounts, exhaust done next week!
I will be glad to answer any questions if anyone has them as things go.
John

Looks good. My friend has been buying parts over the past year/planning a similar 2jz swap. You might want to look into building the r154 with marlin crawler parts if you want it to last at those power levels. I also think it would be wise to go with some larger injectors, say 1200/1600 cc if you are really planning on doing e85 in the future - unless you plan on cranking base fuel pressure.
Looking forward to seeing your progress

Yeah, I have looked into the MC parts..I have been talking with them and am getting a bunch of parts from them to rebuild the trans, along with the driftmotion 3/4 fork.
As for the injectors..yes, they are too small for 700 wheel on e85, and will get upgraded with the next round of parts. Thanks for the heads up!

Goodluck on your build. I had almost the same setup on my e39 but with ID1000, Walbro 416,GSC S1 cams and a.83 backhousing on the BWs366
Yeah the gsc cams are sweet! Thanks!
So that housing is the quickspool one correct?

Yes Sir!
Nice! We shall see how this drives, but I should end up about 9.5:1 compression, versus the factory gte, which is ~8.5:1 if I recall correctly. Hopefully that helps a little bit, but if not that is probably okay. Although with my 3.38 gear I am sure the smaller exhaust housing would help a lot more, but it is just temporary. With the 4.10's in it I should be better off. I have looked at the 11-blade wheels also which would help some as well, but that would also be down the road a bit..
Got some bad news on the motor though..I have never bought a motor that someone else (aside from oem) put together for fear of exactly what happened to me with this motor..
Opened the motor up to check that it was what I was told it was...it is not..and the seller has blocked me on fb, and ignored my calls/texts.
The motor ended up being a junkyard 2jzge, stock bore, stock pistons/rods, stock headgasket that has been coated in copper permatex. There is so much copper spray all over the tops of the pistons and in the coolant. It does have arp studs, but aside from that it is not what I bought..luckily Paypal was used (not gifted) so I should be able to remedy this at least some..I do have a set of oem gte rods/pistons that I could use if things don't work out. Motor also is missing the tb tensioner, and one valve cover was loose.
Kind of sucks, but hopefully it works out. It won't slow the build, as the shop owner has a 2jzge that he can use to mock up the motor mounts, ic pipes, driveshaft, etc..

Ahh man sorry to hear about the motor but your lucky that you used paypal and did not pay as gift. On the 11 blade wheels I was going that route until I found no real time data and was a little skeptical of this. On a R154 to 2jzgte the rear diff ratio would be great with 3.62, 3.73 or 4.10 for a street car.
I figured with upgraded valve train and cams that I would be revving the car out to 8k or so, so the extra rpm would suite a 4.10 gear better than a 3.73 or something along those lines..

swap setup looks nice cant wait to see when its done i love those combination . i wanted to ask you a question what are you going to do about the wiring i started gathering parts together for my e46 . i have not found anything when it comes to the wiring .do you have a diagram or can you take picture of the process of the wire when doing it . thank you so much
I am basically going to wire the engine as if I was using the SC300 ecu (engine came with sc300 harness), but replace the sc300 ecu with the MS3/x box. The only items that I know I will have to change the wiring for are things like the starter, coolant temp (bc I want the factory gauge to work) and a couple other items. The wiring for the gauges will all go through the BMW X20 connector from what I understand. I will try and document the wiring as I go, because I think that is the biggest unknown with these swaps, as those who have done it (for the most part) are not very willing to lay it out for the rest of us...which I understand to an extent. My knowledge on how to wire this has been from reading the other swap threads on here and talking to a couple of fellow bf.c members..

Thank you so much man that is the only thing that brings me stress when i think about the swap lol. Im going to drop a 2jz i still need to buy the transmission im thinking about going with a w58 its way cheaper then the r154 ..so far from my research i will need engine mounts transmission mounts drive shaft radiator but that cover the majority of the things??
Need throttle cable, ps lines, ac lines, assorted other plumbing lines, electric fan or the correct lower profile clutch fan configuration, etc..I dunno what will be different for an e46. Beyond that I am not sure yet.

Btw w58 is weaksauce depending on your power goals..you will also need a bellhousing and the correct clutch/flywheel configuration.

Any pics of the turbo manifold in the engine bay, and how the turbo sits/clearance? I have had issues clearing a PT67 even with an adapter plate using the ebay mani, went and got a real manifold, clears but bearly.

i am aware of that my power goal is around 450 ..i would love a r154 but down here in fl every one wants to rip you off for one.
I do not have any pics yet. We have not test fit the manifold/turbo setup. I know the turbo will fit the manifold, not sure on the fitment with the car yet. This manifold/turbo combo actually came off a 2jz swapped E30. If it doesn't fit/clear I will just have it modified or have one built. I have very little into the manifold at this point.
I gotcha. I got lucky and was able to snag one for 375 bucks from a local recycler, leaving room in the budget to get some MC parts for it. Lucky for you though..you are in Florida, near where Jordan (Shaodome on most forums) lives. He does amazing work with megasquirt..

wow that is cheap!!how long was this?and who is jordan?
Got te trans a little more than a month ago. Bought the bellhousing online. The bellhousing was another 300.
Jordan owns power squirt. He is all over supraforums and club Lexus. He has been settin up ms systems for a long time and does great work. Just search Shaodome and his name will pop up. I am setting up mine on my own since I have been using ms for several years now, but he got me started and is my go to when I have questions.

Everything will clear fine, i've had a bunch of huge turbos under my hood and customer e36 hoods with zero problems. 2j's are a bit taller but still fit under my ACS strut bar with a custom oil feed.

So you run one electric fan..I was planning to as well. How big is that one and what radiator are you using?

Jaze, my ebay mani(warped to hell) cleared with a gt35 knockoff, but not a 67/66 PTE.
I should know in a couple weeks how mine all fits. It is an eBay manifold with a bit of reinforcing. You guys have any issues cracking these tubular manifolds with big heavy turbos?
