    Front Strut Tower Reinforcement Plates?

My car is a 95 and i've been wondering about this for a while. Can i check to see if my car has had these installed by just looking in the wheel well, or are they not visible?

You can check by looking at the wheel well.

They are black anodized steel plates about 6" in diameter that are shaped like a frisbee and are directly underneath the steel shock tower.

Seeing as your car is a '95, unless a PO installed them, you won't have them.

You don't need to look in the wheel well. Just pop the hood and look at the strut tower. You will see a black plate riding the edge of the hole in the strut tower. You obviously need to pop the plastic caps off first. But to make it even easier for you, since your car is a 95, you don't have them!

Go to the stealer and get them, especially if your into autox. They cost all of $10.

Nope doesn't look like i have them. Now i have another question. Since I don't have them i'm going to buy them. I looked at the mount bearings and i could see dirt and sand in them. Is this something i can clean and repack with grease when i install the plates? If so can i just use a carb cleaner to clean them and what grease should i use to repack them?

I believe you can repack the bearings. The grease you need to use is like molasses and really thick. Isn't it just called heavy bearing grease?

I've never actually done this myself (obviously)...

spencer, i got my reinforcement plates

    thanks for the help

anyone know how to install these?

do you just put them on the top of the strut hats?

any easy way of doing this without removing the how strut assembly?

undo the three 13mm nuts on top of the shock tower with the car jacked up and the wheels removed. get in the wheel well and jiggle the assembly loose so it will hang down(carefully hold it because it is sort of heavy). put the reinforcement plate over the 3 studs sticking out of the strut hat so it sits beneath the shock tower. put the studs back thru the holes of the shock tower and replace the 13mm nuts. not hard
