Many have done this up front with spectacular results, But in my opinion it would be quite dangerous to try them in the rear because of the weak shock towers, Too much pressure in that area could cause a catastrophy without adding more material there first. I would also make sure that your AAA membership is up to date!

The rear, how can it be worse than just adding lowering springs?
I see there is not coilover on the rear, just a screw for the spring

A true coil over would be the spring and shock togethre as one, Like the front! On our cars in the rear, That would take pressure from where the OEM springs strong point and relocate them to a much weaker point.

FYI, the ST coilovers linked are not E31 fitment. It's due showing this page due to a glitch in our news feed. If you open the coilovers individually and click the Application Guide you'll note there are not any in E31 fitment.

    I'm sorry about the confusion.

At the current time we do not carry any E31 coilovers.

I know the owner of a suspension company that could make double adjustable (bump and rebound) coil overs if enough people wanted them

He made some custom inserts for my 240Z some years back. I've not looked at the E31 shocks yet but I don't see why it couldn't be done.

It can be done and has been done. But just by an individual who was a great guy and great source to the community. RIP Randy

Who doubted it could'nt be done?? Several cars have Randy's or a similar set up in the front, The rear is a different story!

    I meant I don't see why the Guy I know couldn't make them...not that it couldn't or hasn't been done before :-)
