My battery was out today (silly me, left the lights on) and I had to jump start it. Now I have a "CODE miles/km" on the cluster display. Does anyone know how to clear that?
540i, production date 10/94. Original cluster.
i googled and this came up in a few posts but no stated solution. All happened to original clusters.
Don't mean to hijack the thread on you, but mine's saying 'owners manual' after a dead battery. Maybe our problems have a common solution. Hopefully someone has an idea to what's going on.
Probably the coding plug is corrupted, you need a new coding plug.
Try one time to disconnect the battery, wait 30 minutes and then connect again, if it fails, you need a new coding plug.

Success!
I have carsoft 6.5, so today I hooked it up for a diagnosis. No error from cluster, so it was most likely a residual error from the battery jump. Then I did a erase error for the cluster and everything goes back to normal. It took no more than 5 minutes.
@SazoR20: as you have an E36 325i, better ask for details how to handle this in the E36 forum
