E30 Tach & MPG Gauge Quit; Five Green Service Lights On

Started the 87' 325i vert today and the tach wasn't working. Noticed the MPG gauge is pegged passsed 40mpg and doesn't move while driving. Lastly, the five green service lights are on all the time. The yellow and red service lights do not light up.

I tried resetting the service lights but nothing. I checked all my fuses under the hood with an ohm meter and they all tested continuity. However, that doens't necessarily mena good.

I also searched the forum and, while there are others with tachs not working, I didn't find anything with this combination of things not working.

    Suggestions?

Agreed. This or some other fault with the SI board.

I just put new batteries in there a month or so ago. Was working great. I wonder if a solder joint let loose.

Wouldn't that have an effect on the other gauges in the cluster too?

    Could be Si board damage,

    http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...-board-damage!

I would pull it out and inspect. I would also double check fuse 10, 12, and 21.

Batteries tested okay with a volt meter. Resoldered the new batteries and it works so I guess I had a cold solder joint. Thanks for the help.
