    840ci gear shift indicator

Took my console apart to do some long awaited maintenance.
The gear shift indicator, displaying PRND432, has come apart due a broken clip.
Can not get it to go together and indicate the correct gear or light up correctly.
    Searched with little success.
Can anyone please help with either the correct assembly technique or correct search words.
    Frustrated...

I reassembled mine from that point, but it is VERY tedious. I'm sorry, but I don't remember it step-by-step...

Basically, the little white cylinder attaches to the orange/clear toothed wheel and you must place it (white part first) into the hole in the larger white part, aligning the lighting slit with the proper gear indicator, while sliding the large white part (with the clear optics in it) into the grooves under the shift console. The wheel will mesh with the teeth on the bottom shift console, and when you snap it to the pin on the shaft, it should still be aligned. This whole process take a LOT of practice.

If it's got a broken clip, it will never stay back together

Unless you fix it...Mine has a few dots of glue and a scrap of plastic under it. I'd get a new one, but I can't justify it since there is a 6-speed in my overall plan. Maybe I should, seeing as there is a market for used ones...

    Thanks guys!
olinjohnston1 you remember more accurately than you first thought.
Upon closer inspection there was more plastic missing (broken) and that's why the whole thing wouldn't stay together and line up correctly.
jcs1966 you are correct. I'll order up a new one today.
For now I have followed olinjohnston1 and used a little epoxy to hold everything in place until the new one arrives.
Thanks again guys for your input and help.

Hello Great White, I have the same issue but cannot find the part anywhere. Did you source 511681187649? This is the entire shift indicator plate which I assume includes the mechanism underneath.

    Thank you
