Who's the best source for the wiring harness to run the Mk60 in an E36? Additionally, does anyone have a complete list of all required items from the donor (pump, manifold, yaw sensor, pressure sensors, wheel speed sensors, etc?) How do you contend with different size tire diameters?
I did find an additional source for the harness: http://www.bmsport.com/racing-abs-wiring-harness.html
I just picked up a motorsports unit. But that, the pump, lines, fittings, etc are the easy part.
I thought if I got a junk yard harness, it could be repinned or used as a pigtail as necessary. The hard part is I have no information on the proper wiring or source for the required connectors. Do you have any of that information?
Seems most of the harnesses I've found run at least $1700.
Thanks,
Chad
You really bought a motorsports control unit? I still don't think there is such a thing, but I'd love to be proven wrong.
It's not speed that kills, it's the speed difference that does. Obviously you aren't going fast enough.

You're correct, upon further inspection, it appears to be the CSL model (420/422 PN.)
That's exactly why I'm trying to research. I have Bentleys for my E36 and M Coupe, I assume you're just talking about the E46 book. I had also been trying to acquire the wiring diagrams in PDF format, but no luck thus far.
It is my understanding that the motorsports units are the CSL/ZCP units with different software. So, it still could be (you can't tell from looking at it). The one unit I read that was a claimed motorsports unit only was different than a CSL/ZCP unit in that the VIN encoded was just WBS....it didn't have a full VIN. The software code was exactly the same as both of my CSL/ZCP units.

No. You need to run an addition brake line from the pump to one of the rear calipers. Really a straight forward retrofit.

Would you say that everything listed here is whats needed, and what do you do with the YAW sensor?

You don't need a yaw sensor if you are not running traction control. You can get traction control to work if you are running a stock S54 ECU. There is a guy in the UK that can reprogram some of the units (CSL and ATE part number 813 units- 818s cannot and are must common). You need a steering angle sensor to get traction control functional- the guy in the UK has a steering angle solution for E30 columns, not sure about E36s.

Hrrrmi I care not about traction control units. I use the right foot traction control unit. Which has worked wonders when it was making adjustments for 584wtq

You are right...I did get them backwards. 813s are the ones you want. (I'll edit my post)

hi - currently attempting this on my E46 M3 track car build. I have the MK20 in the car, but want MK60 set up.
wouldn't mind it in my e36 race car as well.
does anyone know of a diagram of the swap into the E46 chassis, or the E36 chassis? and all the necessary components?
ulitmately, one would need to rip the ABS system apart to understand the components, Im just trying to get as much info prior as possible.
Am I correct in thinking that the mk20 is a "3-channel" which refers to the two front wheels each on a separate channel and the two rear wheels on a combined third channel? and that this is the same type of system in the E36?
thanks for any input and direction.

Mk20 is a 4 channel. Any BMW car that has traction control will have a 4 channel system. E36s can have either 3 or 4 channel depending on the years/options.

Swapping it over on your E46 should be fairly straight forward. I'd start by cross checking part numbers...if the wheel speed sensors and brake pressure sensors are the same on the Mk20 and Mk60 equipped cars that clears the first hurdle. After that you'll basically need to de-pin your existing ABS computer plug, replace the plug and ABS controller and plug it back in (and add a 4th brake line if the Mk20 isn't 4 channel).
The WDS or whatever they call it has the wiring/pinout info in it. Just put the wires in the right place. All the better if you can cross reference from the Mk20 and Mk60 connector. Maybe they are even the same.
